    A fantastic audiobook

    I’ve heard many audiobooks so far, but there was never one with such a perfect marriage between insightful writing and passionate narrating. I don’t know if I’m choosing next a book by the author, or a book read by the narrator!
    This is a superb book on the Balkans. What I enjoyed the most was how the snippets of personal stories and anecdotes in the different countries illuminate their history and culture. The author is great in drawing a distinction between how outsiders (westerners) would interpret a situation, and what the situation really looks like from the perspective of the locals. I will have to follow up with another book to have a more detailed historic account of the different countries covered in this book, but I will start with an excellent overview of the different peoples and sentiments of the broader region.
    Highly recommended!!
