The Twilight Hunter

Shawn Crowley was just a teenage boy when he and his Pa went to buy cattle. What was supposed to be a routine trip becomes a life changing experience. They return home to find their family slaughtered. In the midst of their mourning the recently deceased rose as vampires.

Shawn Crowley is on his way home after defeating the vampire who killed his family. On his way home he stops in a small town to rest his horse. But he notices the townsfolk are busy scorching the surrounding area. Millions of cicadas are swarming the town. They aren't just buzzing around lanterns or singing in the trees. They are killing people. But by dawn they're gone. But he knows the following night they'll return. Can Shawn find the reason behind the rage of these docile insects? Or will he be their next victim.

It's been a little over two months Shawn lost his family to a vampire. After tracking down and killing the monster he returned home hoping for a shot at a normal life. A rider in the night brings dire news. His uncle Calvin and his entire family have vanished. Shawn takes off to find out what happened. At the house he finds a strange altar in the barn and a pile of corpses. None of which belong to Calvin or his family. After a brief investigation he learns Calvin learns his uncle had a new worker on his farm. Shawn soon learns that the stranger is part of a cult of necromancers.

Shawn Crowley and his new bride join up with a cattle drive. After the past few months both need a break. But those hopes are shattered as rustlers attack the herd. In the aftermath they learn that the cattle were never the target. The rustlers were after the artifacts buried in a nearby Ute burial ground. Shawn hurries to investigate. What he finds floors him. The burial ground doubled as the nest of a pair of dragons. Now Shawn has just one week to find and return the egg. If he fails then the pair will drown the country in a sea of blood and fire.
