The Calarent Series

A simple planet in an early stage of industrial development. A society which is based on agriculture and a society planting the seeds for the early stages of an industrial revolution. Farmers and peasants who have yet to understand the cosmos around them and the true size of the universe which they inhabit. A society still clinging to superstitions and a belief that supernatural deities control their fate. In a not too distant system, a galactic fleet officer deserts her post. Her society is in the midst of a civil war. She has had enough and abandons everything she knows and loves. She will leave her post and abandon her family. She will attempt to build a new life on a distant planet, a planet with no scientific method, no space travel, and more importantly a world totally foreign to her. Can Beffera adapt to her new environment? She will find that blending in is more than just chemical camouflage. She will find that the social adaptation is infinitely more complex than scientific adaptation. She will meet a simple farm worker who has ambitions of his own. They will form a friendship that will redefine the phrase. FIRST CONTACT. Extensively published author Brian Ostro, takes you into a breathtaking world of dark and dystopian future.
