Willfully, Dorothy Summary

The Wizard left without her, then Glinda says she could have gone home at any time (thanks to those powerful shoes); Dorothy finally realizes she’s been lied to, manipulated, and used as a political assassin.

The result: Dorothy’s anger triggers her magical awakening—in short, she “goes all Carrie” with a never-before-seen magical act: the use of all four elements (fire, water, earth, and air). Suddenly, the Emerald City—and soon all of Oz—is cast under a magical darkness blotting out the sun, moon, and stars. Can Dorothy fix this?

Willfully Dorothy explores her becoming the maiden of classic witch identity. Her journey is revealed in contrast to the rise of the Wizard thirty years prior, and new characters show the hidden history of Oz through hexes, love stories, and political change.
