Jerome Klapka Jerome was an English writer and humorist. He is best known for the comic travelogue Three Men in a Boat, which has sold over 200,000 copies in the UK, over a million in America, and has been translated into almost every language in the world. His literary friendship circle included H. G. Wells, Kipling, Mark Twain, J. M. Barrie and Bernard Shaw. This collection features dramatisations of Jerome’s key titles.

Jerome Klapka Jerome was born on the 2nd May 1859 at Belsize House in Caldmore, Walsall, England. His family were reduced to poverty whilst he was a toddler owning to failed investments in the local mining industry. After several moves in declining circumstances Jerome became a pupil at St Marylebone Grammar School. His aim then was to go into politics, or even become a man of letters, but with the death of his father, when he was thirteen, and his mother two years later, now meant that he had to support himself and leave all thoughts of education behind.

This collection of short stories contains several gothic tales to bear macabre and chilling witness to writers as diverse as Charles Dickens, HP Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe and Jerome K Jerome. These tales are designed to unsettle you, just a little, as you sit back, and take in their words as they lead you on a walk to places you’d perhaps rather not visit on your own.

Jerome K Jerome began writing in 1888 with "On the Stage and Off', followed the next year by his familiar classic "Three Men in a Boat". In this delightful collection of stories, narrated by Hubert Gregg, the author reveals all too well why these stories should only be "told after supper". Listener beware!
