The TARDIS arrives at Heathrow Airport at a moment of crisis: a Concorde aeroplane has inexplicably vanished while in flight. The Doctor, Tegan and Nyssa join the crew of a second Concorde that sets out to simulate the fateful journey of the missing supersonic jet...but an old enemy in disguise is lurking at their destination. Seeing is believing, they say - but the Doctor and his friends realise that it just isn't that simple.

Materialising to avoid a head-on collision in space, the TARDIS becomes trapped on board an eerily deserted alien spacecraft. The Doctor transmats to Earth to solve the problem - yet when the TARDIS follows on, Tegan and Nyssa find that they have arrived five years too early. While the Doctor enjoys a reunion with Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart in 1983, in 1977 his companions are confronted by a hideously deformed figure who claims to be the Doctor. Unsure whether or not this is their friend, Tegan and Nyssa must choose whether to answer his desperate pleas for help.

The Doctor is enjoying the sun on a holiday island, until things get hotter than he bargained for. The young American, Perpugilliam Brown, brings to the TARDIS a mysterious object that her archaeologist step-father has found in a sunken wreck. When the Doctor’s robot friend Kamelion reacts to the object unexpectedly, it has bewildering consequences for the TARDIS crew.

The Doctor's companions take centre stage in four exciting TV novelisations featuring the Fifth and Ninth Doctors, plus a spin-off story featuring K9 and Sarah Jane Smith. In Mawdryn Undead, by Peter Grimwade, the Doctor is reunited with Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and meets Turlough, an enigmatic public schoolboy.
