Twenty years have passed. His daughter has grown up. The world runs on self-driving cards and smart bracelets. And Rip has one tiny problem: he has to eat people to stay alive. What starts as a desperate search for family, quickly spirals into mistaken identities, hostile corporate takeovers...

Everyday Absurdities is a collection of short stories by author M. von Lindenberg. This book is bad, and it's not meant to make you happy. In fact, it would please the author to no end to know that you threw it in the trash after the introduction. If you manage to actually listen this god-awful thing, you should seek psychiatric advice. Note: there will be no mention of The Noodle Incident herein.

The first story, Teeth, takes place deep in the heart of the Appalachian forest where nothing can be trusted as fact. No sound, no sight, and certainly no creature. Ramsay has lived in his little plot of the labyrinth for many years. He's made uneasy alliances with the things that go bump in the night, but he's always looked over his shoulder for the one that he knows is coming for him.

Grady Sachs lives a quiet, forgettable life. A dull job, a blank routine, and no real attachments — exactly how he likes it. But when he's suddenly arrested and accused of crimes he doesn't understand, the world begins to close in. The evidence is perfect. The process moves quickly. And no one seems to care that he's telling the truth. As the walls tighten, memories start to slip. Faces feel familiar. And the line between who he is and who he's accused of being starts to disappear. This isn't a mistake. It's something else. Something he was sure he'd never have to relive again.

Maisie Weathersby is a small town girl. Even from a young age, she knew that her life was to be surrounded by fame and adoring fans. She saw her titles in lights on Broadway and scrawled across the marquee of every movie theater on opening night. At 18, she left her home town in order to chase her big city dreams. Now, just outside of Chicago, Maisie has tried out a stage name that she thinks will stick. She's auditioned, clawed, scraped, and fought for her place in "the biz".

Corey Everheart was willing to trade everything for fame, but when he gave up his heart, he didn't realize what he was losing. Now, as he climbs the ladder of heavy metal fame, the price of his sacrifice becomes impossible to ignore. Amid the blood, the brutal reality of his choices, and a hollow, almost romantic longing for something more, Corey must face the emptiness that fame can't fill. Surgery: Table for Two is a raw, visceral exploration of what happens when we cut away the parts of ourselves that make us human-and what we lose when we dare to rebuild from the wreckage.

The fires didn't end the world. They just ended the illusion that it could be saved. Whole cities fell in days. Flames swallowed streets, homes, and lives with nothing more than a hiss and a crackle. In the ashes, someone had to stay behind — to contain it, clean it, pretend it could be controlled. That's where the Spatesmiths came in. We were supposed to be the line between order and collapse. We told ourselves the world still needed saving. That we could rebuild something from the ruins. But the fires weren't the real enemy. It was the fear. The doubt.

Julian and Emilia are kismet spirits-meant to be together from the start. Like most relationships, the fire puts off less heat, and the pulse begins to run shallow. When their lust doesn't serve as their defibrillator anymore, the only thing left in their bond is resentment, memory, and dead weight.
