Cpl Nicholas Xenakis made two tours to Iraq as a grunt, something he was born to do. When his wife gave him the "me or the Corps" ultimatum, he chose her, but not before he joined the local reserve battery for one last pump. The battery was assigned as a provisional MP company with the mission of convoy duty, something Nick figured would not be as exciting as his grunt tours, but at least he was back in the fight.

Sending up for Seth....

Follow three fictional Marine privates as they participate in the watershed moments in the First Barbary War. This book is historical fiction, but the events it describes are historical fact. Most of the characters actually existed and fought in the war. Where possible, their actual words are reproduced here. In all other cases, dialogue and characterizations were born in the author's imagination.

Michiko MacCailin is a member of the First Families, more concerned with her privileged lifestyle of ballet, spending time with friends, and planning her wedding than of the injustices suffered by the indentured workers of the all-powerful Propitious Interstellar Fabrication, Inc., the charter holder of the planet. When her activist fiancé is murdered at a protest rally, she blames the company and embarks on a personal mission of vengeance.

This is all three books of The Return of the Marines Trilogy. Faced with tremendous odds, Gunny has to lead his Marines in an almost impossible task. That is nothing new to the US Marines. Impossible tasks are the Corps' forte. But can his small detachment keep up the tradition of the Corps and succeed despite tremendous odds?

China is growing in power and in need of raw materials. When an aggressive general, with encouragement from an unnamed puppet master in the Politburo, moves to seize the Spratly Islands from the Philippines and Taiwan, the Marines of the 15th MEU are the only unit in position to do anything about it. What makes things more difficult is that the Chinese have made great strides in cyber warfare that have negated America's technological superiority.

After the events at the US Embassy in New Delhi, the Marines are being brought back as a combat unit. Newly commissioned 2dLt Anthony Niimoto, a hero of the embassy takeover, is with the first Marine battalion to get back into the deployment cycle. Assigned to anti-piracy, this is supposed to be a dull deployment. But when a US ship is seized by Somali pirates, it's First Platoon, K 3/6 at the tip of the spear.

Gunnery Sergeant Jacob McCardle is the commander of the Marine Detachment at the US Embassy, New Delhi, when the president of the United States arrives on an official visit - the same man who, as a congressman, sponsored the bill that had decimated the Corps in a cost-cutting effort. As the president arrives, the embassy is attacked and isolated by a mob of nationalists. With the Indian government seemingly unwilling to take action to restore order and with an ambitious vice-president seizing this as an opportunity to move up to the White House, it is up to Gunny McCardle and his small band of Marines to keep the president alive.

The war between the Alliance and the Hegemony has spanned countless stars and shed untold blood on a hundred worlds. For two commanders, Alliance Captain Alcazar and Major Richter of the Hegemony, the war has spiraled into a personal feud. Both lead fierce marines and mechanized soldiers into battle against the other on the green hell planet, Ayutthaya, and each new fallen warrior only deepens the bitterness and hatred between the two.

But as a retired Marine, Colby has resources and skills not shared by other farmers on the newly terraformed agricultural world of Vasquez and soon he is bringing the fight to the invaders.

Sergeant Leif a’Hope Hollow is the first of his people to earn the coveted title. He never knew how soon he and his fellow raiders would have to prove themselves on the field of battle. After the failed coup to oust the emperor, the Novacks do not fade quietly into the background. They continue a low-grade insurgency, but in doing so, they open the door to other players that bring the entire empire to the brink of destruction. Sergeant a’Hope Hollow must lead a ragtag group of fellow non-humans in an attempt to avert a catastrophe that can wipe out humans forever.

Titus sought glory in the Free States Infantry. He ended up in the Engineers. When the chance came to prove himself, he grabbed it with both hands. And caught the eye of the Intelligence service. How could a boot enlisted engineer transform into a soldier who works behind the scenes to root out corruption in the ranks as easily as providing combat intel to the front lines?

Human slavers attack. Despite trying to fight back, there is nothing the young Leefe can do to save his family and friends. But he doesn't have to. The Imperial Marines arrive in the nick of time, and they hate slavers. Three tri-years later, when the new emperor issues a proclamation to integrate the imperial military with non-human citizens, Leefe is among the first to volunteer. Integration to resurrect the empire as a force for good is challenged by centuries of prejudice against the "dung races."

Lance Corporal Hondo McKeever is a peacetime marine. Humanity is hooked into a limited war with the alien Klethos, where gladiator-style combat decides the fate of worlds. Hondo's career has consisted of training hard but never seeing actual battle. All of that changes when a new enemy invades the galaxy. One that forces humanity and the Klethos to forge an unlikely alliance. But can the Klethos be trusted? Mankind hasn’t fought an all-out war in centuries, but they’re about to. And the Grub invaders are bent on running the galaxy.

Anxious to forge her own path away from her father's shadow, the newly minted Second Lieutenant Esther Lysander jumps into her first command, an infantry platoon. Driven to excel, she's not going to let anything get in her way as she climbs to the top. Leading a pack of Marines, however, requires more than just courage and understanding the tactics of war. She has to lead, not merely command. As much as she wants to succeed in her own right, it isn't that easy. For good and bad, everyone knows who she is and the legacy she carries.

Pax becomes a team leader as the Marines are developing new tactics, but the Tucanans aren't standing still, either. And they seem to have targeted the Undead. High on their list of priorities is to figure out what makes the Undead so dangerous, and they'll go to any length to get their foot-arms on a few of them. Pax has to ensure their military mission is accomplished while blocking the Tucanans from taking Undead prisoners to face a fate worse than death—even multiple deaths.

Esther and Noah Lysander are the twin children of General Ryck Lysander, Commandant of the Federation Marine Corps, leader of the Evolution, and Chairman of the Federation. When they are told that their father and mother have been assassinated, they are both devastated. Cut adrift, they each decide to enlist in the Corps, but for different reasons.

The end of the Undead could be upon us. The Undead continue to take the fight to the Tucanan invaders, but it’s difficult to achieve such notable success without attracting attention. Rumors continue to surface about clones and zombies, sparking protests. Irrefutable proof surfaces that at least one of the Undead was previously declared KIA and buried with honors, and then an insider goes public, sparking uproar and calls for official investigation.
