Thanksgiving—our annual festival of sharing amongst family and friends. A feast of favorite foods and camaraderie originated to memorialize the appreciation and remembrance of two diverse groups. On that chilled day in the fall of 1621, the Pilgrims of the Mayflower and the indigenous people of the land far west celebrated a meal. A meal characterized by sharing and kindness. However, our perspectives of that first Thanksgiving are recorded and told from the perspective of those present. There was a predecessor.
