The lightening-quick Russian victory over the United States is total and complete. The Soviet thermonuclear first strike transforms America's cities into fire-scorched mounds of radioactive rubble, its vast countryside into a shattered wasteland. The onslaught of Russian invasion troops capture most Americans fortunate enough to survive the nuclear carnage, creating a slave labor force to serve every demand of the Russian overlords. But a handful of survivors escape the Russian net and choose to live - and give their lives if need be - for freedom's cause.

For years, Colonel Killov, the head of the KGB forces based in the post-apocalyptic United States, has taken a submissive role to President Zhabnov and his leadership over North America. Now, having survived several assassination attempts ordered by Zhabnov, Colonel Killov finally pushes his own evil gambit into action. Colonel Killov decides to put his massive attack plan against the American-based Red Army in motion and unseat Zhabnov from power, thus controlling North America and eyeing control of the Soviet Empire and subsequently the entire world. 

The freefighters have fought their first major engagement in their campaign to rid America's shores of foreign invaders after 100 years of occupation. With devastating results.... Declaring it a victory, the freefighters have suffered countless losses in the end. Century City, their secret underground stronghold, is crippled by a nuclear attack and may not be salvageable. And their ultimate soldier, the Doomsday Warrior, Ted Rockson, the man who has lead the rebellion against the Soviet Empire occupation, cannot be found among the carnage and is presumed dead. 

The Doomsday Warrior, Ted Rockson, barely escapes from Moscow in a hijacked MIG fighter and crash-lands in the Midwest of America. But this is a post-apocalyptic 2089 AD America, and he must traverse the deadly wasteland to return to one of the last outposts of freedom in the Rockies, Century City. In the meantime, the Soviet Empire is preparing their most devastating attack on the American freefighters.  

It has been 100 years since the Soviets conquered the United States and much of the world. Now the scattered Free Cities within the US are about to unite and form a new nation with one goal: to forever drive the hated Soviets from America's shores. And there's only one man who can spearhead this second War of Independence: the Doomsday Warrior, Ted Rockson. However, the insidious KGB, lead by the maniacal Colonel Killov, are planning to destroy the fledgling rebellion in one nuclear swoop by planting a spy in the midst of the historic gathering. 

Premier Vassily, supreme leader of a Soviet-dominated world, lays dying, the result of a conspiracy plot lead by Colonel Killov, head of the USSA KGB, who sees himself as the next in line to rule the Empire. But Killov has his enemies. General Zhabnov, head of the United Socialist States of America, has his own eyes on the premiership. But first, Zhabnov must take care of the continuing freefighter rebel problem within his borders. And his answer is ingenious. He will brainwash and mind control tens of thousands of his American slave laborers and turn them into soldiers. 

The year is 2089.... America and much of the world is a post-apocalyptic nightmare.... Ted Rockson and his small band of soldiers fight to rid the land of a Soviet occupational force bent on world domination. But Rockson not only has the enemy to contend with, for out of the ashes of the nuclear devastation of World War III, the Earth has become one large death zone. Mutated animals, destructive storms, and barbaric humans now roam the land. Death seems to be everywhere. Hope seems fleeting. But Rockson will not give up.

In the fall of 1873, a wagon train of immigrants sets off from Kansas City, Missouri, bound for the Montana Territory. Leading the group is newly elected wagonmaster Jamie Ian MacCallister, a giant of a man and frontier legend who swears he can get them there by Christmas - come hell or high snow drifts....Plagued by brutally harsh storms and rugged terrain, outlaws and hostile Indians, the journey will be the greatest challenge these pioneers will ever face. 

They just wanted to get home for Christmas...but fate had other plans. It's December 1890. A Texas rancher named Big Jim Conyers has a deal with Scottish-born, Wyoming cattleman named Duff MacCallister. Along with Smoke and Matt Jensen, the party bears down on Dodge, Kansas, to make a cattle drive back to Forth Worth. But before they can get out of Dodge, guns go off and a rich man's son is killed.

For Gage Jameson, the summer of 1873 has been a poor hunt. A year ago he felled 62 buffalo in one stand, but now the great Arkansas River herd is gone, like the Republican herd before it. In Dodge City, old hide hunters speak is awe of a last great heard to the south - but no hunter who values his scalp dares ride south of the Cimarron and into Comanche territory. None but Gage Jameson....
