60% of the 20 countries most impacted by climate change are experiencing armed conflict. This connection reflects a complex reality. While armed conflict is not considered a direct cause of climate change, it can increase environmental pressures and affect two key pillars: economies and public health, ultimately impacting stability in affected countries. Carla Abi Akl hosts Development Policy Expert and Advisor to the Minister of Industry in Lebanon, Antoine Kallab, alongside Karen Al Gemayel, Environment and Climate Change Specialist at the ICRC in Lebanon, to discuss how armed conflict affects climate change, and its impact on both the environment and the people.
