In episode 55, What the Wound Remembers, I’m talking about what can happen after someone apologizes and you believe them, but being close to them no longer feels the same. I’ve struggled with the shock of being hurt by someone I know I would never have treated that way. That shock can make forgiveness difficult, even when the apology is sincere.
I explore how reflecting on a wound can help us understand our boundaries without letting the experience define every relationship that follows. Sometimes forgiveness leads to rebuilding trust. For me, it has sometimes meant forgiving someone and removing them from my life. There’s no single way it has to look, but I believe we deserve to find a way forward that doesn’t leave us carrying hate.
