  • S6 EP8: Miles' Story - An Unquenchable Thirst For Adventure!
    Feb 20 2026

    Send a text

This week we have a great conversation with Miles Spencer, and discuss his restless desire to experience as much of the world as possible, to learn from other cultures and to really test his boundaries for adventure!

Over his winding path, he has found himself tested by both boardroom chaos and adventures that had no margin for error. He helped co-create MoneyHunt, which aired on PBS as a predecessor to Shark Tank, and while those studio lights were bright, they were nothing compared to leading more than 1,500 people in kayaks over 14 miles of open sea or walking 1,100 miles across desert in Saudi, Jordan and Syria. Each time, he was forced to confront what failure meant, and figure out how to rebuild after. Miles has founded (and exited) three media companies, with a fourth underway, but it’s the recovery from missed shots that taught him the most about grit and moving forward.

Miles comes on the show, to help us continue to build community, around vulnerability and hope.

    Thank you Miles!

Marci Marie Simmons was from a good upbringing, and had a good job. She had made a few wrong turns along the way but was doing well. After realizing the company she was working for was taking part in some not so above board accounting, Marci started doing some 'creative accounting' of her own. So, she had found a way to steal funds on a regular basis, and had become addicted to 'not getting caught'. She knew she had to stop, but couldn't. Listen to this amazing episode as we hear in detail about the day her world came crashing down. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison for in 2011 for stealing a total of $367k. Although a lot, the punishment did not ,match the crime, and she was made an example of, even spending time in solitary confinement. She was released on parole in March 2021. Never a violent offender in or out of custody, she is now on a mission to help other female inmates who often suffer the same fate in the USA's corrupt and failed justice system. Wow. What an episode.
