After ten years at Canvas Credit Union, Ben Metzger made a deliberate choice to leave a place where he was comfortable and successful and begin again at Wings Credit Union.

Why? Because sometimes growth requires stepping into unfamiliar territory.

In this episode, Ben joins Nathan Whitaker to discuss embracing change, leading with humility, and shifting our understanding of leadership from position and authority to service and stewardship.

They explore the importance of taking thoughtful risks, building trust through relationships, and listening to understand rather than simply preparing a response.

Ben also shares the unexpected story of how a pandemic project became a passion for collecting antique typewriters, including a remarkable Crandall New Model from the 1880s.

It's a conversation about remaining curious, embracing opportunities to grow, and ultimately living for something bigger than ourselves.

Tim Sinclair is the public address voice of the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, Chicago Fire, and University of Illinois athletics—but none of that was part of his original plan.

Tim joins Nathan Whitaker to talk about his unlikely journey from architecture school and small-market radio to some of the biggest stages in sports.

Along the way, they discuss Tim’s belief that “passion changes priorities,” his unconventional “1099 to 5” career, and why he eventually realized he didn’t want the bigger title, more responsibility, or traditional climb up the career ladder.

Tim also takes us behind the scenes of major sporting events—from calling World Cup matches to introducing Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Steph Curry, LeBron James and other NBA legends—and explains the teamwork and “beautiful chaos” fans rarely see.

It’s a conversation about finding work you love, defining success for yourself, knowing when to say no, and deciding what deserves your most limited resource: your time.

What do secure leaders do differently?

In this special episode of Uncommon Impact, Nathan Whitaker revisits three conversations from his earlier "The Art of Playing Well" series with longtime NBA coach Brendan Suhr, Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy, and educator Catriona Moran.

Each offers a different lesson on leadership:

* Brendan Suhr shares what Chuck Daly taught him about listening, ownership, and giving the people you lead a voice.
* Tony Dungy explains why leadership doesn’t require becoming someone else—and why relationships and authenticity can be strengths rather than liabilities.
* Catriona Moran talks about the responsibility to mentor others, help them grow, and even prepare them for opportunities that may eventually take them somewhere else.

Three voices. Three lessons. One common thread: secure leaders listen, lead authentically, and develop others.
