  • Ep. 103 - Defects of Character: Are They Who I Am or What God Needs to Remove?
    Jan 29 2026

Join Trudge Report this week as the Ohio boys are shoveling snow while the Florida boys are soaking up 85° sunny weather. We kick things off with a quick check in on the winter storm to make sure Greg and Dan are okay. Corey has two quick rants. One about the evolution of American school snow days and the other about too many school fundraisers.

The recovery segment surrounds our defects of character. We have just recently uncovered most or all of these defects as we have gone through the inventory process, written things down, and discussed with a trusted person. Now, we discuss the difference between personality traits and character flaws and how these defects can be cast out. Can we remove our own defects of character or is it only by the One who has all Power?

“A shortcoming is like a flat tire. A character defect is like driving on it.” -Unknown-

  • Ep. 102 - As Free As You Want To Be: Getting Honest With Yourself and Sharing With a Trusted Person
    Jan 22 2026

Welcome back to another episode of Trudge Report. Danny is traveling and with family this week so Greg, Corey, and Shawn are bringing the goods. Greg has a quick rant on the state of the movie theatre going experience these days, Corey shares some big life updates, and Shawn recaps a weekend of family feud and comedy roasting.

The recovery segment is all about writing things down. We specifically talk about writing down our resentments, fears, and harms done. The necessity of this process in our recovery programs and how it gets it out of our heads, which is fantasyland, and puts it into reality. Next, we discuss the importance of discussing the things we write with a trusted source and confidant. How to pick this person and how dangerous it can be if we shy away from this part of the recovery process. A solitary self-appraisal is insufficient. We have to have other people who have been through the experiences and can share their honest opinion and perspective. All of this gets us closer to the God of our understanding.

Every morning you have two choices: Continue to sleep with your dreams, or wake up and chase them." -Carmelo Anthony

  • Ep. 101 - Owning the Harms We’ve Done: Sobriety, Growth & Freedom
    Jan 15 2026

Hello everyone, we welcome you back to another episode of Trudge Report. In this week's episode we tackle a little bit of football talk as playoff season is upon us. We go around the horn and Greg gives a little constructive feedback to the toy manufacturer, Mattel. We also mention the touching but sometimes overlooked moments of being parents. We discuss a little more about financial fears and then we dive into the main recovery segment which is the harms we have done to others. We talk about how we used and manipulated everyone, especially those closest to us. These harms are not only caused during our drinking days but also when we are many years sober. It all lands on a simple point: freedom starts when you stop hiding from what you did and start showing up like a different person.

Persistence in prayer is an expression of our faith. -Emmet Fox-

  • Ep. 100 - 100 Ways Not to Host a Podcast: Favorite Episodes, Fear & the Trouble It Creates
    Jan 8 2026

100th episode!!!! Hello everyone and welcome back to Trudge Report. The whole crew is back in action this week as we are all home and settled in post New Year. After a quick around the horn and recap of our holiday and New Year travels and escapades we do some brief sports talk before getting into the main material of the show. We pay homage to Shawn's long time mentor in recovery of over 14 years who recently passed away and went to the Big Meeting in the sky. Next we pay tribute to 100 episodes of Trudge Report. Each of us take a turn talking about lasting memories and how we started. The recovery segment is all about fear. Irrational fear, self-centered fear, fear in early recovery as opposed to current day fear. How we deal with these fears and most importantly, how we turn it over to our Higher Powers and the steps we take to eliminate or lessen these fears.

“The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and they that lack the beginning have neither middle or end.” - John Bunyan.

  • Ep. 99 - The Dynamic Duo Wrap Up Holiday Madness And Welcome The New Year
    Jan 1 2026

Welcome to this week's episode of Trudge Report. Greg and Corey are holding down the ship while Dan and Shawn have the night off. The dynamic duo discuss how their Christmas holiday went and Corey talks about his holiday travel nightmare but with a good friend helping out along the way and a not so bad ending after all. Greg shares a genuinely heartfelt moment from his soon-to-be stepson and overall blessings of the family he is about to marry into.

From there, they zoom out into what holidays used to look like in active addiction versus what they look like now, including rebuilding trust, showing up for family, and learning how to be present. They close with practical advice for anyone newer to recovery during the holidays, including prayer, finding sober community, and having an escape plan when you feel off. Remembering always that each day or event is just that, a single day or event. The significance of them is what we make of it

  • Ep. 98 - We Don’t Carry The Weight Anymore: Resentments and Rental Car Relapses
    Dec 25 2025

Join the Trudge Trio this week as Corey is either missing in action and on the run from the FBI or traveling for the holidays. We go around the horn and discuss everyone's final Christmas preparation plans. Dan has a wild discovery in a rental vehicle.

The recovery portion of the show surrounds the understanding need for moral inventory and self-examination. The boys discuss the power of resentments, both good and bad, looking for where we were at fault in a situation, and the steps we can take to get rid of these resentments, including specific prayer we can say. We also discuss how our self centeredness is the root of our troubles.

Care not then for the morrow, but let the morrow care for itself. For the present day has ever enough of its own trouble. -Matthew 6:34

  • Ep. 97 - Belief vs Faith in Recovery and How Real Change Happens
    Dec 18 2025

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Trudge Report. To kick things off Danny goes on a quick rant about people from snowy and cold states that annually act like they've never seen snow once it arrives, especially on the roadway. Greg gets in on the rant as well. We then have a spirited but brief debate over professional wrestling and how real or fake it really is. Shawn manages to offend Corey, which isn't difficult.

The recovery segment surrounds the idea of belief vs faith. Which comes first? How are both attained or or they innate? Each of us discuss how our perspectives of our Higher Powers evolved through sobriety from having experiential knowledge in different situations. The change we are after; does it occur immediately or is of the educational variety? Do we ourselves notice it first or is it noticed by others around before we become aware of it?

Don't stumble over something behind you.

  • Ep. 96 - Our Defining Moments of Letting Go & Corey Thwarts an Assassination Attempt
    Dec 11 2025

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Trudge Report. Join us this week as we recap our weekends and do a little favorite and least favorite Christmas movie around the horn. Greg has a new house guest and let us not forget that Corey almost became a national hero at a Christmas parade.

The recovery segment surrounds the idea of what can or cannot define our Higher Powers? We share some of our personal experiences and anecdotes as we were new in recovery and were given counsel by those who came before us. Does a person have to believe in a traditional deity or type of theology? Can nature or the Recovery Group itself be an adequate Higher Power? We discuss how our ideas of what we believe has been influenced by our upbringing and both negative and positive experiences. We finished the show with a personal segment of how each of us came to believe.
