À propos de ce contenu audio

Old friends discuss local legends starting with the ones they know from their home state. Legendary people, places, and random facts about Indiana abound here. While we started in Indiana, the world is full of legends and we want to explore them. Laughter, history, and spooky facts included. We like getting down to the bottom of these legends and giving both the facts as well as the lore. If history and interesting stories, sometimes with a spooky bent, are up your alley, so are we! We like telling each other stories and hope you will like them too! Oh, one more thing, you want ghosts? That's how you get ghosts...

Krysti leads off with the tale of Clipperton Island. This island is now the home to poisonous crabs and that’s about it. This island was “owned” by many countries by the end of its saga. This island was the source of mass amounts of guano which was in high demand for fertilizer. There were fights between countries over this itty bitty island. This led to Mexico claiming the island and leaving a contingent of folks to guard it. These settlers get stuck due to things like WWI and the Mexican Revolution. This also prevented the supply ships from coming. All the things proceed to go wrong and bat shit crazy is a term for a reason. This island is now a French island. Tori takes us to Edinburgh Castle. This castle has been in use since AD 638. This castle has been a source of conflict between the English and the Scottish. The Scots did retain it and is home to the Lia Fail and the Honours of Scotland. This castle has been the home to kings, queens, sheriffs, and soldiers. The castle itself is made of limestone, we’ve talked about limestone and stone tape theory before. And guess what? This sucker is haunted with many ghosts.

Tori leads off with King’s Chapel Burying Grounds. This is the oldest cemetery in Boston and has some disturbing tales that go along with it. Krys regales us with the Matamoros Cult killings in the late 80’s. This was a jurisdictional nightmare due to this being on the border between the US and Mexico. This cult was present and caused all sorts of chaos in Mexico in the 80s. This cult mixed both drug running and religious belief. The head of this cult was bribing the authorities to look the other way for the drug running and then told his followers that he was making them invisible. As you can imagine, this ended badly. Krys tells us of the Red Onion Saloon in Alaska. This is still standing in Skagway to this day. This saloon is still in operation at this point but the brothel part of the business is now a museum. Not shocking…it’s haunted.

Krys tells of the Gettysburg Orphanage. This was started due to a picture of a family of a perished soldier in the area. Sergeant Amos Hurniston was the soldier that started this by dying with the picture of his fam. The orphanage was built to house the orphans of Union soldiers. While this began as a noble idea, this soon turned into something more sinister. Yeah, not good and a breeding ground for ghosts. Tori takes us to another battlefield, Yorktown. Seemed like it was time for Revolutionary War battlefields. This was the most well known as the last land battle of the Revolutionary War. This was a siege that finally gave the US its independence. Fun fact, The World Turned Upside Down is an actual British drinking song and not just a Hamilton reference. You want ghosts, they got ghosts.
