Hosted by Andy Griffiths, Iona Russell, Ian Young, and Ann Stewart from Piece of Mind Therapy & Mental Health Training, the podcast explores the messy, emotional, funny, and deeply human parts of life that most people quietly struggle with. From anxiety, burnout, relationships, and people pleasing… to identity, healing, self doubt, and figuring out who you actually are beneath the noise nothing is off limits. Some episodes are reflective. Some are hilarious. Some hit harder than expected. But every conversation is real, unscripted, and grounded in lived experience, professional insight, and genuine curiosity about why we think, feel, and behave the way we do. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, lost, healing, or just trying to make sense of life, Tickety Boo is a reminder that you're not the only one figuring it out as you go. 🎧 New episodes every week on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & YouTube.Tickety Boo 2020 Alternative & Complementary Medicine Hygiene & Healthy Living Psychology Psychology & Mental Health

  • 132 - If Nothing Changes, Nothing Changes (So Why Don't We?)
    26 Oct 2026

You keep saying you'll change. So why haven't you?

If nothing changes, nothing changes. Most of us know it. Most of us still wait for Monday, or the new year, or the right time. In this episode we talk about why "I want things to be different" never gets you anywhere, and what happens when you work backwards from the change you actually want. Get specific about what it looks like and when, then put the steps in.

Then we get to the more interesting question. If we know all this, why don't we do it? What's really going on when we stay with something we keep saying we want to leave behind?

Tickety Boo is a podcast about why we do what we do, from the team at Piece of Mind in Glasgow. With Andy, Ian, Iona and Ann.

  • 131 - The Hidden Cost of the Life You've Built
    19 Oct 2026

What if the life you've worked so hard to build is quietly taking away some of the things you built it for in the first place?

The house. The car. The holidays. The career. The lifestyle.

All things we work towards, often believing they'll make life better.

But have you ever stopped to think about what it actually takes to keep them?

In this episode of Tickety Boo, Andy, Ann, Ian and Iona explore the hidden cost of modern life, the pressure to maintain a certain lifestyle and whether we're sometimes sacrificing the very things that matter most to us.

Imagine your life as a furnace.

Every new commitment, possession or responsibility is another shovel of coal you have to keep feeding into it.

And the bigger the furnace gets, the harder you have to work just to keep everything running.

But what happens when you get tired of shovelling?

We talk about lifestyle creep, the pressure to appear successful, the expectations we place on ourselves and how easily we can end up maintaining a life we're too busy to actually enjoy.

This isn't about giving up ambition, selling everything you own or pretending that money doesn't matter.

It's about asking some uncomfortable but important questions.

How much of what you have do you genuinely want?

How much of it is about keeping up appearances?

Are you making choices because they bring you happiness, or because they're what you've come to believe success should look like?

And if you could build your life again, knowing what you know now, would you build the same one?

Because the real cost of our lifestyle isn't always measured in pounds and pence.

    Sometimes it's measured in time.

    In freedom.

    In relationships.

    In energy.

In the moments we're too exhausted or too busy to enjoy.

And perhaps the greatest irony is that we can spend years working towards a better life, only to discover we've created one that demands almost everything from us just to keep it going.

This is one of those Tickety Boo conversations that might make you question what success really means, what genuinely makes you happy and whether the life you're living still reflects the things you value.

Because sometimes the answer isn't to work harder, earn more or keep adding to what you've already got.

    Sometimes it's simply to ask:

"Is everything I'm working so hard to maintain still worth what it's costing me?"
