Many Christians want to understand the Bible better but feel overwhelmed by difficult passages, confusing themes, or the challenge of seeing how the Old and New Testaments fit together. Three Questions for Reading the Bible is a podcast designed to help everyday Christians read Scripture with greater clarity, confidence, and joy through a simple, Christ-centered approach to Bible study.

Hosted by Pastor Scott Dollar, each episode explores how the entire Bible tells one unified story centered on Jesus Christ. Together, we'll learn to ask three foundational questions whenever we open God's Word:

  1. Where does this fit in God's story?

  2. How does this function as Law and Gospel?

  3. How does this reveal Christ as Prophet, Priest, and King?

Rather than relying on complicated methods or academic language, this podcast offers practical Bible study help rooted in sound biblical theology. Whether you're a new believer, a seasoned Christian, a Sunday School teacher, or a pastor, you'll be encouraged to see the unity of Scripture, the beauty of the gospel, and the glory of Christ from Genesis to Revelation.

New episodes feature biblical teaching, practical Bible study guidance, devotional encouragement, and conversations designed to help you read God's Word with greater understanding and confidence.

The Covenants: God’s Plan Unfolding | Chapter 7

How do the covenants of the Old Testament fit into the story of redemption?

In this episode of Three Questions for Reading the Bible, Pastor Scott Dollar looks at God’s covenant with Noah and His covenant with Abraham. We’ll see how God preserves His creation, makes His promises, and steadily unfolds His plan of redemption.

The story of Noah reminds us that the flood did not change the human heart. Humanity still needs a Savior. The covenant with Abraham then moves the story forward as God promises a people, a place, and a blessing—and ultimately points us to the promised Seed, Jesus Christ.

Along the way, we’ll ask the three questions that guide this series:

    1. Where does this fit in God’s story?
    2. How does this function as Law or Gospel?
    3. How does this reveal Christ as Prophet, Priest, and King?

The covenants are not disconnected stories. They are part of God's unfolding plan, moving us toward the fulfillment of His promises in Christ.

God preserves. God promises. God fulfills.

Join Pastor Scott Dollar as we continue learning to read the Bible as one unified story—and to see Christ in every page without complicated tools.

In this episode of Three Questions for Reading the Bible, Pastor Scott Dollar walks through Genesis 1–3 and explores the foundational story of Scripture: Creation, Fall, and Promise. We’ll see humanity’s purpose as God’s image-bearers, the devastating effects of Adam’s sin, and the first promise of the coming Savior in Genesis 3:15. Most importantly, we’ll see how these opening chapters establish the storyline that leads us to Jesus Christ and shape the way we should read the rest of the Bible.

  • Seeing Christ in All Scripture: Jesus the Prophet, Preist, and King

Seeing Christ in All Scripture: Jesus the Prophet, Priest, and King

How does the Bible all fit together?

Scripture contains history, poetry, prophecy, law, sacrifices, priests, kings, and countless individual stories. At times, it can feel like we are reading disconnected pieces rather than one unified story. But from Genesis to Revelation, Scripture tells one story—the story of God’s plan to redeem His people through Jesus Christ.

In this episode of Seeing Christ in All Scripture, we explore one of the clearest ways the Bible reveals this unified story: the threefold office of Christ as Prophet, Priest, and King.

Throughout the Old Testament, prophets spoke God’s Word, priests mediated between God and His people, and kings ruled over God’s covenant people. Yet every prophet, priest, and king ultimately fell short, creating an expectation for Someone greater.

    That Someone is Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the final Prophet, who perfectly reveals God. He is the perfect Priest, who offers Himself as the once-for-all sacrifice for sin. And He is the eternal King, the promised Son of David whose kingdom will never fail.

When we understand Christ’s threefold office, we begin to read the Old Testament differently. Moses, David, Solomon, the prophets, the priesthood, the sacrifices, and the kingdom are not isolated stories. They are part of a larger story pointing us to Christ.

As Jesus taught after His resurrection, “in all the Scriptures” the things concerning Himself were revealed (Luke 24:27).

    We need Christ.

He is the Prophet we must hear, the Priest we can trust, and the King we must follow.
