In the mind of Patrick Adolphus R. Browne Jr. is a cluster of thoughts, hypothesis, theories, think pieces and conversations about thousands of things. Some topics in his head may be towards a concentrated effort or it's one of those days where the thoughts are unorganized and chaotic. Writing things down or speaking things aloud is a way for him to organize his and put them in their compartments in order to articulate properly. When speaking aloud, why not speak into a broadcast mic....and record it. In the words of Patrick himself..."My life is content" so certain things will be divulged onto the audience that can be funny, sad, entertaining, inspiring, intriguing, so on and so forth. Enjoy the conversation.

Street Fighter 6 proves that sometimes the smartest way to move a fighting game forward is knowing what NOT to leave behind.

In Think Pieces & Conversations — Episode 117: “Hate It or Love It,” I break down what I believe is one of the biggest reasons Street Fighter has remained one of the most prestigious and successful fighting-game franchises in the world:

    Capcom remembers the melody.

Street Fighter doesn’t simply erase everything that worked whenever a new generation begins. Capcom experiments, studies what players respond to, keeps the concepts that prove themselves, and then evolves those ideas into something new.

    We go back through:

    Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
    Street Fighter IV
    Street Fighter V
    Street Fighter 6

And we look at the design lineage connecting ideas like parries, EX and Overdrive moves, Focus Attack, FADC, V-Reversal, Drive Parry, Drive Impact, Drive Rush, and the larger philosophy behind how Capcom builds each new Street Fighter.

These mechanics aren’t all the same.

    That’s the point.

The question is whether Capcom has mastered something every fighting-game developer should understand:

How do you innovate without throwing away the things your audience already proved they love?

I also compare Street Fighter’s philosophy with Mortal Kombat, including the variation system from Mortal Kombat X and how that concept evolved through MK11 and Mortal Kombat 1.

We get into Tekken 8, why Tekken may have the best opportunity to challenge Street Fighter at the top of the FGC, and what can happen when a fighting game pushes its design philosophy too far away from what its audience already understands.

I even touch briefly on newer fighting games like Marvel Tokon and what future developers can learn from the franchises that have already survived multiple generations.

This isn’t about saying Street Fighter has never made mistakes.

It isn’t about pretending every Capcom mechanic is perfect.

It’s about understanding why Street Fighter’s past continues to live inside its future.

NetherRealm often reinvents the song. Capcom keeps remixing the melody.

And Street Fighter 6 may be the clearest proof yet that sometimes the smartest innovation isn’t creating something completely unfamiliar.

Sometimes it’s knowing exactly what deserves to survive.

Episode 116 — Your Favorite Streamer Owns Your Brain | Think Pieces and Conversations Podcast

In Episode 116, I break down the recent “Gears of War: E-Day is woke” debate and how big streamers can shape public opinion before people even play the game for themselves.

This episode focuses on Asmongold’s commentary, the reaction to characters like Captain Akila Grey and Mags Carter, and why so many gamers repeat streamer opinions without understanding the lore, the scene, or the actual world of Gears.

I make it clear: I agree with Asmongold on a lot of gaming criticism. I do not like forced agendas in games either. There are even things in Gears of War: E-Day that some people may consider woke, like certain optional flags players can find. But that is not the same as saying the entire game, its characters, or its story are ruined.

I also talk about why calling Akila Grey or Mags Carter “woke” ignores the world they come from. Gears is built on war, trauma, survival, command, and generations of violence. Women in this universe have been through brutal wars too, and that kind of life would naturally change how they carry themselves.

We also get into feminine women in the Gears universe, especially Anya Stroud, and compare that with Bernie Mataki, a hardened female Gear who was never traditionally feminine — and yet nobody treated her as proof that Gears was ruined.

This episode is about Gears of War, but it is also about a bigger issue in gaming culture: borrowed opinions, streamer influence, outrage without context, and people letting reaction channels think for them.

Do you actually think Gears of War: E-Day is woke?

Or did somebody with a bigger platform tell you that?

  • "Two Days Before Emergence Day" | TP&C | Episode 115
    30 Sep 2026
Send us Fan MailThink Pieces & Conversations #115 — Two Days Before Emergence DaySeven years. That’s how long it’s been since we entered a brand-new mainline era of Gears of War.And now, we’re finally here.Recorded on September 29, 2026, the day Gears of War: E-Day became available to pre-install, this episode of Think Pieces & Conversations is different for me. This isn’t just another gaming-news discussion. This is about what it feels like to watch a franchise you’ve followed for years disappear into the darkness, rebuild itself, and finally come back out ready to begin another era.Two days before Emergence Day.Gears 5 released back in 2019. Since then, The Coalition has spent years working behind the scenes before returning to the beginning of the story with Gears of War: E-Day—a prequel centered on Marcus Fenix, Dominic Santiago, and humanity’s first encounter with the Locust Horde. XBOX WireAnd in this episode, I talk about that entire journey. What went right with Gears. What went wrong. Why the franchise became increasingly difficult for new players to enter. Why being one of the most mechanically demanding shooters in gaming can simultaneously make Gears special and make growing its audience more difficult. And why I believe The Coalition disappearing for all these years may have been exactly what this franchise needed. They went back into the tunnel.Back into the basement.Back into the dark. And seven years later, they’re coming back with E-Day.But this episode goes deeper than gameplay, graphics, multiplayer, or release dates.I talk about Marcus and Dom and why people are still emotionally connected to these two characters decades later.Because great characters aren’t great simply because the writers tell us they are.We watched Marcus and Dom suffer. We watched them lose people. We watched them fight through impossible situations. We watched their friendship get tested over and over again. They earned our connection to them. And I contrast that with characters like JD and Kait, where I believe the newer games never gave audiences enough time, hardship, development, and shared history to create that same level of emotional attachment. That matters because Gears has never only been about chainsaw guns and monsters. At its best, Gears of War is about brotherhood.Loss.Trauma.War.Family.Survival.And people finding reasons to keep moving when life has already taken almost everything from them. That’s why returning to Marcus and Dom before everything went to hell has so much potential. We know what happens to these men.Now we get to see more of why they became the people we eventually knew. And for somebody who has been waiting years to experience another real Gears era, this moment feels special. The pre-install is here.Early access is almost here. The wait is almost over. XBOX WireEmergence is coming.🎙️ Think Pieces & Conversations #115 — Two Days Before Emergence DayHosted by 8-LEFT-EARTHIf you’ve been with Gears since the beginning—or if E-Day is about to be your first Gears of War—drop your story in the comments.Like the video, subscribe to the channel, and come experience this next Gears era with me.#GearsOfWarEDay #GearsEDay #GearsOfWar #MarcusFenix #DomSantiago #TheCoalition #Xbox #EmergenceDay #GearsOfWarCampaign #GearsOfWarStory #GamingPodcast #GamingDiscussion Support the show📌 CHECK OUT ALL MY LINKS BELOW:🎥 Full Podcast Episodes → https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd8ZSGCdMCUoK0sIvzSNbMWMkyld4WwIq🌐 Linktree with Everything I Do → linktr.ee/8leftearth📱 TikTok → https://www.tiktok.com/@8leftearth🐦 X / Twitter → https://www.twitter.com/8LeftEarth📸 Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/8LeftEarth🎮 Twitch Streams → https://www.twitch.tv/8LeftEarth🎧APPLE: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/think-pieces-conversations/id1720075527🎧Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2dAWnvVTtDniIiaLsR4hY8? si=b512a11cdad04756🎧Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/15ca65e1-07a0-456d-896b-6055340bea1f/think-pieces-conversations🎧Deezer: https://deezer.page.link/dNvQ4k9DFnVaWyan9To purchase Beats from video Hit the link below:🎙🎤🎶 www.beatstars.com/8LeftEarth📩EMAIL ME: 8leftearthinc@gmail.com (SERIOUS INQUIRIES)
