LJ’s journey began when he joined the U.S. Air Force in 2007. His career would take him from Malmstrom AFB to military working dog training at Lackland AFB and eventually overseas, including a K9 deployment to Afghanistan, where he supported operations alongside elements of the 25th Infantry Division and 82nd Airborne Division.

After ten years of active-duty service and a medical retirement in 2017, LJ’s service didn’t end. He transitioned into law enforcement, serving with the Crestview Police Department and later the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. His career included K9, SWAT, crisis intervention, training, and years of serving his community.

But this episode is about more than a résumé.

It’s about the person behind the uniform—the experiences that shape a warrior, the battles people don’t always see, and what happens when one chapter of service ends and you have to figure out what comes next.
