Life doesn't always slow down long enough for us to catch our breath. The Steady is for anyone who's in the middle of it - feeling the weight of holding so much, and quietly wondering if you're okay.

Hosted by Melody McConico - pastor, artist, wife to a veteran, and boy mom of three (one of whom is on the spectrum). The Steady is a space where we practically unpack the issues and interactions that leave us turbulent beneath the surface. It's a journey toward identity and wholeness; honest conversations woven with a faith-based perspective.

  • "I'm Fine" (And Other Things We Say)
    4 Oct 2026

Ever said "I'm fine" while your heart was saying something completely different? In this episode, we look at Proverbs 14:10: "Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy." We talk about the gap between the person everyone sees and the person only we know, why we hold things in, and what it costs us when we keep pushing things beneath the surface.

You don't have to have it all together. Come as you are, and let the weight come off.

    Homework:

What are you holding onto that no one else can see? Get alone, close the door, and lay it all down before God.

Cry, pray, say it all out loud, and then receive His love and peace as He lifts the weight off of your shoulders.

  • **Steady Announcement!**
    11 Sep 2026

Hey friends! The Steady is taking a short break for the next two weeks.

We're heading to the US, and part of that trip is celebrating one of my sons' birthdays - a very important reason to slow down. It also felt like the right moment to rest, regroup and just be present with the fam before diving back in.

In the meantime, stay tuned to my social media @melodymcconico for more steady content.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I'll see you in two weeks! Until then, stay steady. :-)

  • Dismantling Failure
    4 Sep 2026

Last week we talked about hope deferred. This week, we're turning to something just as heavy: failure. What happens when we start something with everything in us, and life makes it impossible to finish? Through the story of the woman caught in adultery in John 8, we look at how Jesus separates our identity from our failures, and how shame tries to convince us otherwise. Failure is something that happened. It is not something we are.

Scripture referenced: John 8:1–11, Romans 8:1, Hebrews 12:1–2

Homework: What is something you've been avoiding because you're afraid of failing again? Write it down.

Then walk through each layer: Anger, Hurt, Fear, Self-pity, Shame- and say out loud what you're actually feeling.

After that, write down the truth. Say out loud what God says about this.

Dismantling shame isn't passive work; it's active.
