  • Ep 124: What Childhood Taught Mykal White About Handling Pressure
    22 Oct 2026

In sixth grade, she hid in the last bathroom stall to collect herself between classes. That’s where she learned the composure that built her sales career.

    Description
Mykal White, founder of The MasterKey Academy, helps people perform under pressure in sales. Her story starts in a middle school bathroom stall. Every day there, a sixth grader learned to steady herself before walking back out. Melvin Larry and Mykal talk about why she believes that mindset isn’t bigger than conditioning and why poise means remembering you get to choose your response. They also cover how sales reveals your relationship with pressure and what her mother taught her about never forgetting who you are. Then they get honest about parenting, unspoken resentment, and even what women wish men knew.

  • Ep 123: You Don’t Know It Like You Think You Do: The 4 Levels of Knowledge
    15 Oct 2026

The longer you’ve been around, the easier it is to mistake familiarity for mastery.

    Description
Knowing about something and actually living it are two completely different things. In this episode, Melvin Larry walks through the four levels of knowledge (learned, modeling, activity, and teaching) and turns them into a mirror instead of a ladder. Through a church broadcasters’ convention, a mentor decades younger, and the voice that asks, “Where have you been?”, he shows how experience can hide the gaps, why “I already know” may be the most dangerous limiting belief of all, and why being willing to be a beginner again is a sign of strength.

  • Ep 122: What Got You Here May Be Keeping You Here
    8 Oct 2026

Is what got you here still capable of taking you where you're trying to go? Sometimes the thing standing between you and your next chapter isn't something you don't know. It's something you already know.

In this episode of The Shattered Mindset Podcast, Melvin Larry takes on a hard kind of growth: questioning the things that worked. Failure gets our attention. Success gives us evidence we were right, and that makes it harder to see when a lesson has finished its job.

Melvin talks about the difference between an experience and the meaning we attach to it. He shares how growing up shorter than everyone shaped what he believed about himself. He also explains why, now that his sons are all taller than him, the same fact means something completely different. He talks about becoming a beginner again in podcasting after years as a church audio and video technician, and why being vulnerable on the show still challenges his private, introverted nature. He revisits advice a leader gave him more than 20 years ago and explains how he applies it differently today. He also covers the person many of us find hardest to forgive: ourselves.

Along the way, he shows how limiting beliefs often don't sound limiting. They sound like experience. "I've tried that before." "That's just who I am." "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Your past deserves a voice. It just doesn't get the final say.

    In this episode:

    • Why it's harder to question something that worked than something that failed
    • The difference between an experience and the interpretation you attached to it
    • How a lesson can outlive the situation that created it
    • Why limiting beliefs often sound like experience instead of fear
    • Confusing identity with repetition, and why "that's just who I am" deserves a question
    • Using the dots and lines to find where a belief came from
    • Principle vs. method: the principle stays, the application evolves
    • How old beliefs stop you from taking the action that would produce new evidence
    • Why success is "the progressive realization of a worthy ideal"
    • How to honor the person you used to be without letting them make every decision
