Hello everyone! And welcome to our brand new season of ‘The Scores Are Not Enough’ hosted by me, Rich Marsden! In each episode we will perform an in depth analysis of a selected sci-fi or fantasy film score, chosen in no particular order, each score lovingly hand picked by a special guest.

This week we’ll be opening doors, hanging out in zero gravity, dealing with clunky robots and staring into the abyss amongst other space based shenanigans; that’s right it’s ‘The Black Hole’ and joining me to find out just what is on the other side is returning guys Steve Brownett-Gale who can be found on all the socials as Stevie BG and together, we’ll be hanging out with the humanoids on the Cygnus and trying to avoid getting fitted with tin foil hats! But is John Barry’s score for this space opera the work of an old pilot or a bold pilot? Only one way to find out, let’s dive in!

That’s right, it’s ’Skyfall’ and joining me to enjoy the sounds of Bond playing the ultimate homage to Home Alone is returning guest Vinnie Harris!

But is Thomas Newman’s first Bond score an Adrenaline ride or is it simply a Day Wasted? Only one way to find out, let’s dive in!

    • Spectre - with Will Welch
      Dec 11 2025

For this mission we’ll be discussing the music that accompanies Bond as he takes in the Day Of The Dead in Mexico, a rather brutal night time sight seeing tour in Rome, a visit to a Norwegian health clinic, a rather drastic remodelling of a Tangier hotel room all whilst trying to avoid a clinch with Mr Hinx. That’s right, it’s Spectre and joining me as we make our way through the cues to Thomas Newman’s second score for Bond is Will Welch, curator of the social media account The Wonderful World Of Film Music but is ‘The writing on the wall’ to be believed with regards to this Bond score? Only one way to find out folks, let’s dive in!

Spectre original score written by Thomas Newman.Soundtrack released through Decca and Universal Music Classics, 2015 all rights reserved. 'Writings On The Wall' written by Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes, song performed by Sam Smith, released through Capitol 2015, all rights reserved. The James Bond theme written by Monty Norman, arranged by John Barry and re-arranged by David Arnold.
