Noah receives instructions from God to build an ark (a what?!) even though it has never yet rained. We also discuss who the Nephilim might be and who are "The Sons of God"?

We compare Cain's lineage, who moved away from God, to Seth's lineage, who moved toward God.

BONUS: How old was Noah when Methuselah died?

(We'll be going over the mind-blowing answer in Genesis 7!)

Though a well-known story from the Bible, we break down each verse to discover what this says about God's nature, how Cain reacts to the crime he committed, and how the Lord responds.

What happened as a result of Adam and Eve's disobedience and the Serpent's deception? We discuss who God is, the legal system of Heaven, and how Jesus restores that which was broken.

The difficult sections of scripture are the ones we want to lean into--don't skip them!

THE FALL! Adam and Eve disobey God by eating the forbidden fruit. There were two trees in the garden: one that leaned on God and led to eternal life, and the other that takes control of our own lives apart from God. Which tree are you eating from?

Genesis 2 brings up a lot of questions:

• God rests after working hard--why? And why is both work and rest so important?
• Where is the Garden of Eden? There are four rivers, only two of which are known of today. Why are those details in there if the landscape changed after the flood?
• God creates Woman directly from a piece of the man. What does this teach us about gender and marriage?
• write down your questions as you read, too, but don't just leave them there! Go searching. Ask the Holy Spirit. And let Him lead you to find out more!

Genesis--the beginning of it all. We read through Genesis chapter 1 in both the NIV and ESV. Please read along and highlight whatever stands out to you!

We're switching things up! I'm switching from weekly to daily (I know! Pray for me!) and am reading through the book of Genesis with commentary. I'm inviting you to read alongside me and underline/highlight/circle whatever stands out to you--what questions does it prompt? Then go dig deeper! That is God trying to speak to you, so go ahead and pull the thread! You'll be amazed at what you discover!

Also: Genesis is a book about identity. It's an origin story. We learn who God is and who He created us to be along with so much more! There's a reason it's so difficult for you to read Genesis--the enemy doesn't want you to know who you are and the authority God has given you!

Come, take this journey with me.
