The Money Problem
In Formula 1, speed is never just about the driver or the car—it is about the money behind both. Haas and Williams are discovering just how difficult it can be to compete when the financial resources, personnel, facilities, and development capacity simply aren't there. The 2026 cost cap may have been designed to bring the field closer together, but it doesn't erase years of underinvestment or the enormous difference in resources between teams. The FIA's 2026 cost cap is set at $215 million, yet Haas has acknowledged that it is struggling to reach even that ceiling, operating with roughly 400 employees compared with more than 1,000 at some rival teams.
