Instead of leaving the profession, he decided to focus on what he already knew from neuroscience, quantum physics, spirituality, mindset, and much more.


From there, Dr. Vic experienced growth in all areas of his life, more fulfillment, and discovered a more simple way to achieve more out of this life.


Dr. Vic interviews guests on all different aspects of life that bring a piece to fulfillment in this experiment we call, “Life.”

    Overview


    In this episode, I deconstructs why most self-improvement efforts—like 30-day challenges and New Year’s resolutions—fail over 90% of the time. He introduces the "Micro Failure Cycle" and explains that permanent change isn't just about willpower; it's a biological and neurological process that requires a minimum of 84 days to hardwire.


    The Neuroscience of Habit: Myelination


    Dr. Vic explains that a new habit is like a dirt path in the brain, while an old habit is a ten-lane highway. To turn that dirt path into a "fiber optic cable," the brain must undergo myelination.


    • Electrical Leakage (Weeks 1–4): Think of this as the "fragile" stage. New behaviors have weak signals that tend to "leak" out, which is why they feel so difficult to maintain early on.


    • Myelination (~12 Weeks / 84 Days): This is where the magic happens. Your brain coats the nerve in a myelin sheath (basically a fatty insulation), which makes the signal automatic and permanent.


    • Synaptic Pruning (Ongoing): This is the brain’s way of cleaning house. It physically disconnects old, unused patterns to redirect all that energy into your new, healthier ones.

    • Phase 2: Navigating the Void (Weeks 5–8) I call this the "motivational graveyard." This is where synaptic pruning is at its peak. You may feel irritable, bored, or foggy as your brain "withdraws" from old chemical addictions (like cortisol and dopamine).


    • Phase 3: Hardwiring the New You (Weeks 9–12) Myelination thickens. The behavior moves from something you try to do to something you are. It no longer requires willpower to maintain.

    Change is a neurochemical war. Your body is often addicted to the neuropeptides of the "old self"—whether that’s an addiction to drama, stress, or instant gratification.
