These files were not meant to be found. The Millbrook Files is an investigative horror podcast following independent podcaster Avery Quinn as she sets out to document the strange folklore surrounding one forgotten small town. Urban legends. Haunted locations. Unexplained disappearances. Forgotten cemeteries. Scary stories everyone swears happened to a friend of a friend.

Then a package arrives.

Inside: a weathered red binder labeled The Campfire Protocols, a collection of bizarre rules supposedly written by the people responsible for patrolling Blackwood Forest. Rules that make no sense... until listeners begin recognizing them, strangers start warning Avery to stop asking questions, and people begin remembering the town differently.

This is not a ghost story. This is evidence.

Presented as a real investigative podcast recorded in real time, The Millbrook Files is a serialized audio drama horror experience. Every episode is another piece of a conspiracy you were never supposed to uncover. Records disappear, witnesses change their stories, entire places vanish from history. And somewhere in the background of every investigation, watching from just beyond the edge of the frame, is a silent figure known only as The Man in the Hat.

Some stories are meant to be told….Others were buried for a reason.

New episodes drop every week. Subscribe and follow the investigation from the beginning.

  • File# 013 What Really Happened at Blackwood Logging?
    5 Oct 2026

The official story is that Blackwood Logging “shut down” in the late 70s. But when I start pulling property records, leases, tax payments, and maintenance agreements, the timeline breaks wide open. Why would a company that no longer exists keep buying industrial equipment, paying contractors, and maintaining roads inside Blackwood Forest years later. So what actually stopped in 1979? The logging, or the public-facing version of Blackwood itself?

  • File# 012 The First Winter
    28 Sep 2026

Last week, I told you I found two interviews in the Milbrook Historical Society. Both were conducted by a reporter named Jacob Springer and Both were with men who had worked for the Blackwood Logging Company. The first was Walter Harlan. The second… was Tomas Bell.

Today we walk through Tom’s story, built from reporter Jacob Springer’s original interview notes. You’ll hear why Tom volunteers for the winter crew, the specific rules foreman Frank Mercer lays down about the forest, and how the Blackwood slowly changes from “cold and quiet” to “quiet in the wrong way.” Then it escalates: an unseen force drags a man from his tent after he answers to his name, voices imitate mothers and dead brothers, and Tom’s own wife calls him from the trees with a fear he cannot ignore. When boot prints appear around camp that match the tread of the crew’s boots, the line between folklore and evidence disappears.

The mystery only deepens when radios fail, compasses disagree, their stored water turns oily overnight, and the crew breaks the one rule they were warned about: do not drink from the creek. What follows feels like contamination, hallucination, and something else entirely. A radio call finally goes through and headquarters insists a search team already reached Site 27 and found nothing there, no camp and no men. When rescuers arrive, they claim the survivors are miles from where they think they are.

If you’re into paranormal podcasts, supernatural mystery, wilderness horror, and investigative storytelling, this chapter of The Millbrook Files pushes all of it to the edge. Subscribe so you do not miss what we uncover next, share the episode with a friend who loves eerie true-style investigations, and leave a review with your theory on what happened at Site 27.

  • File# 011 I Wasn't Going to Come Back...
    21 Sep 2026

I wasn't going to come back, really. People in Millbrook have always loved a good story, but lately they don't even look at me when I mention Blackwood Forest. After I stepped away from the podcast, the town’s reaction doesn’t feel like gossip anymore. It feels like a warning, and it’s aimed straight at me.

So, I follow the one detail that keeps scratching at my brain: Jacob Springer, a reporter who tracked down former Blackwood logging crew workers and recorded their accounts. That trail leads to the Millbrook Historical Society and to a discovery that should make any investigative podcast listener sit up: the Springer interview tapes exist. They’re cataloged in the archive and they’re stamped CONFIDENTIAL. There's no donor listed and no clear way to get permission to listen to them. Someone locked them away, and nobody wants to admit who.

If you’re into paranormal investigation, true crime and conspiracy theory mysteries, then you're in the right place. Subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review. What should I dig into next: the hospital records or the people who marked those tapes confidential?
