Welcome back to our REV UP the Vote series! REV UP stands for Register, Educate, Vote, and Use Your Power!

Your right to vote is your power! Especially when it comes to demographics, such as our friends who live with different abilities, that are under-represented at these crucial voting booths!

In this show series, we empower and educate our friends with different abilities and their loved ones on all they need to know about voting, accessibility in voting, why voting is important, what the different offices up for election are in Oklahoma and why they are important- as well as information about all the candidates up for these different offices (and help you learn/know how to do your own research), and so much more! Every episode is produced inclusively with differently abled self-advocates with a differently abled self-advocates’ voice and perspective participating in the conversation as well!

In this episode, we are continuing sharing about the different candidates running for different offices in Oklahoma. For this episode, we’re focusing on the Oklahoma Corporation, Labor, and Insurance Commissioner Candidates that will go to the General Election November 3rd!

This week, we’re pausing our OEOO REV UP series to continue our series of shows from the NABIS Live collaborative podcast series on Episode 245 of The Hidden Workforce!

Let’s welcome Dr. Meeryo Choe! In this episode, Dr. Choe shares with us about everything we need to know about pediatric sports related concussions, brain injury, and more.

“Dr. Meeryo Choe grew up in the Los Angeles area, traveled east to attend Amherst College, where she majored in Fine Arts completing a senior thesis in Printmaking. She is currently an Associate Professor in Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Neurology, at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and the Program Director for the Child Neurology Residency Program. She is also the Associate Director of the UCLA Steve Tisch BrainSPORT Program, and helps oversee its mission, providing clinical care for injured student athletes, performing clinical research in pediatric traumatic brain injury TBI, and educating the community about sports-related concussion. Her research focuses on clinical outcome after pediatric TBI, with interests in post-concussive autonomic dysfunction and gender disparities in concussion incidence and recovery. She was a co-author on the CDC’s pediatric mTBI review and guidelines published in JAMA Pediatrics, and is a site-PI for the CARE4Kids U54, a multi-institutional longitudinal pediatric concussion study. An avid equestrian and former swimmer, Dr. Choe coaches as well, giving her a unique perspective on an athlete’s desire to return to his/her sport and the outside pressures they might experience.” (https://braininjurysummit2026.org/speaker/meeryo-choe-md/)
