      Dec 16 2020

This week we're taking the time to talk to Maya Patel, Co-founder and Optometrist from Chakshu London, about displaced individuals at Christmas. Every year for the past 5 years Maya has been spending her holiday's supporting those without the company of loved ones, volunteering at Crisis at Christmas. Offering her skills and expertise tending to the vision and optical needs of the homeless, and providing diagnostic and rehabilitative care.  In this honest and inspiring conversation Maya discusses the difficulties individuals without a fixed residence face, when trying to access routine or emergency health care services. And she candidly talks about the changes to her perception over time,  and the lasting feeling of community and compassion from spending her Christmases with the unplaced.
