  • 4. Samantha Petherwick: Hidden Paths, Walking Together and Finding Confidence
    5 Nov 2026

How well do you really know the green spaces on your doorstep? From secret woodland paths and ancient holloways to the wild landscapes of Dartmoor, walking guide Samantha Petherwick is on a mission to help more women discover the joy of exploring.

In this episode, Good Ways founder Dan Raven-Ellison joins Sam for a walk around Exeter, exploring some of the city's hidden green spaces and hearing how her Rambo Rambles walking groups are helping women build confidence, make friends and find a sense of belonging outdoors.

Along the way, they talk about childhood adventures, the magic of getting off the beaten track, overcoming fears of walking alone and why you don't have to travel far to have a great adventure. They also explore how sharing routes and local knowledge can inspire more people to discover good ways to go, whether that's around their neighbourhood or out in the wild.
