  • TME Season 2 Episode 41: The One Where the Chicago Bear Becomes a Logistics Boss
    6 Oct 2026

What does it look like to go from playing in the NFL to building a logistics company specializing in some of the biggest freight on the road?

Former Chicago Bears tight end Desmond Clark joins Danielle Spinelli on Tell Me Everything to talk about his journey from professional football to building Bear Down Logistics, a company that has developed a specialty in heavy haul, oversized and over-dimensional freight.

And yes, a former Chicago Bear naming his company Bear Down Logistics is pretty perfect.

Desmond shares how he entered the logistics industry without really knowing what he was getting himself into, why Bear Down eventually found its niche in heavy haul, and how surrounding himself with people who knew more than he did helped completely change the direction of the company.

They also get into what heavy haul actually looks like behind the scenes. Moving something like a 300,000-pound transformer isn’t simply about finding the right truck. There can be route surveys, permits, cranes, insurance requirements, site planning, soil testing and countless other details that have to come together before the freight ever moves.

Desmond explains why Bear Down approaches these moves more like project management than traditional freight brokerage.

Danielle and Desmond also talk about:

    • Going from the NFL to the logistics industry
    • Building Bear Down Logistics
    • Heavy haul and over-dimensional freight
    • Project cargo and multimodal transportation
    • Expanding into intermodal
    • Why brokers should meet customers face-to-face
    • Building a team of people who are better than you at what they do
    • The connection between athletics, teamwork and business leadership
    • Creating employee buy-in instead of simply demanding compliance
    • Desmond’s goal of building a $100 million company
    • His mindset triangle of thoughts, emotions and actions
    • Why everyday life can become your best content strategy
    • Building an authentic personal brand
    • How Desmond uses AI to organize his own thoughts without losing his voice

One of the biggest themes throughout the conversation is that leadership isn’t about having every answer.

It’s about building the right team, listening to the people around you, knowing where your own strengths end, and being comfortable saying, “I don’t know, but someone on my team does.”

From football to freight, this episode is a conversation about leadership, specialization, relationships, authenticity and what it takes to keep building something bigger.

  • Fraud Girl Season 2 Episode 36: How GenLogs Fights Freight Fraud
    2 Oct 2026

What happens when you take intelligence tradecraft from the CIA and apply it to freight fraud, carrier vetting, and cargo theft?

On this episode of Fraud Girl Friday, Danielle Spinelli sits down with Kris Forrest of GenLogs, a former CIA intelligence professional who spent more than a decade working across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East before making an unexpected jump into transportation.

As Kris puts it: he used to track terrorists. Now he tracks trucks.

This episode dives into what makes physical truck intelligence different from traditional carrier vetting—and why relying solely on digital data, ELD pings, FMCSA records, emails, or other digital signals may not tell you the whole story.

Danielle and Kris break down real-world freight fraud scenarios involving sold MCs, chameleon carriers, phishing and identity deception, manipulated ELD data, mismatched equipment, unusual operating footprints, and carriers claiming to run lanes where their trucks may not actually operate.

They also discuss GenLogs’ nationwide camera network, which captures millions of truck images each day, and how physical observations can be combined with other data to help brokers, carriers, shippers, compliance teams, and insurers make more informed decisions.

    In this episode:

    • How CIA intelligence tradecraft translates to freight fraud prevention
    • Digital intelligence vs. physical “ground truth”
    • Why ELD and other digital data can be manipulated
    • How sold MCs can create carrier-vetting blind spots
    • Chameleon carriers and changing truck identities
    • The three physical red flags Danielle and Kris commonly see around suspicious carriers
    • Lane history and operational footprint
    • Equipment verification before booking a carrier
    • Why actually seeing the truck matters
    • Using carrier intelligence proactively instead of only after a theft
    • Giving frontline carrier reps better tools for vetting decisions
    • Documenting carrier-selection decisions and managing safety risk
    • How GenLogs can assist with cargo theft investigations

The biggest takeaway? Carrier vetting shouldn’t be about checking a box. It should be about understanding whether the carrier, truck, equipment, operating history, and story actually make sense together.

And sometimes the most important question is incredibly simple:

Is this truck actually where they say it is?

  • TME Season 2 Episode 40: The One Where Ditat Takes Us Inside The World Of Dispatch
    29 Sep 2026

What REALLY happens behind the scenes between truck drivers, dispatchers, carriers, and freight brokers?

On this episode of Tell Me Everything, Danielle Spinelli sits down with Alec Stauffer of Ditat to talk about the side of trucking operations that brokers don’t always get to see.

Alec started in trucking at just 19 years old and worked his way through dispatch and fleet operations before eventually joining the transportation technology side of the industry. We get into what it actually takes to manage drivers, improve driver retention, understand hours of service, keep trucks moving, and build the relationships that make trucking work.

We also dive into how technology is changing carrier operations — from TMS automation and ELD integrations to fuel optimization, auto-dispatch, APIs, maintenance tracking, and using technology to help trucking companies scale without simply adding more people.

And because this is Tell Me Everything, Danielle puts Alec through a dispatcher edition of rapid-fire questions, including:

    • Great rate or great broker?

    • What makes a dispatcher lose a driver’s trust?

    • What gets a broker on a carrier’s bad side?

    • Do drivers actually care when you tell them it’s a “HOT LOAD”?

    • Who complains more — drivers or dispatchers?

    • Why do relationships still matter in an increasingly automated freight market?

    • How should carriers know when they’ve outgrown their TMS?

Whether you’re a freight broker, dispatcher, truck driver, carrier, fleet manager, or transportation technology professional, this conversation gives a look at trucking from the other side of the desk.
