    • TeaFlix Interview with John Beland
      Jan 27 2026

      Send us a text

John Beland is an American songwriter, musician, and producer whose career bridges the worlds of country, rock, and Americana. Known for his literate songwriting and studio craft, Beland has worked with a wide circle of influential artists, including Kris Kristofferson, Linda Ronstadt, and other key figures from the California country-rock and Nashville songwriting scenes.

As a writer and collaborator, Beland developed a reputation for songs rooted in strong narrative, emotional realism, and melodic clarity, qualities that made his work a natural fit for artists who value storytelling as much as sound. His music reflects the lineage of classic American songwriting, drawing from folk, country, and rock traditions while remaining contemporary in tone.

Beyond songwriting, Beland has been active as a producer and studio musician, contributing to recordings which emphasize authenticity and craftsmanship. His behind-the-scenes work has placed him in creative environments alongside some of the most respected voices in American music, particularly during the era when Nashville and Los Angeles artists were increasingly crossing stylistic boundaries.

As an author and commentator on music and creativity, Beland brings a songwriter’s perspective to the cultural history of American popular music, offering insight into the collaborative process, the evolution of the industry, and the enduring power of well-told songs.

      Teaflix Interview with Sylvia Massy

Hosted by Dr. Angie McCartney & Ruth McCartney

Tuesday January 13th, 2026 as they host legendary music producers and METAlliance members Sylvia Massy and Niko Bolas. February will see them, and 5 of their friends and multi-Grammy®-winning producers making their Off-Broadway debut in their "spilling the studio tea" and dare we say "off the record" show "STUDIO-CONFIDENTIAL" at The Sheen Center on Bleeker St in the heart of NYC.

      ABOUT SYLVIA:

Sylvia Massy is an award-winning music producer and recording engineer with a decades-long discography that covers a wide variety of musical genres. She is best known as the producer of Tool’s first two albums, but has also worked with artists including Prince, Johnny Cash, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Taylor Hawkins, Jason Isbell and many other legendary musicians.

Sylvia’s bold, unconventional recording style is illustrated best in her book “Recording Unhinged – Unconventional and Creative Music Recording Techniques.” After years in Hollywood, she currently works out of her Pacific NorthWest ‘OddioShop’, an Atmos 9.1.4 equipped mixing and art studio where she owns the world’s largest collection of vintage microphones (over 2,500), treasuring some of the most rare and interesting historic microphones ever seen.

Sylvia is also an accomplished fine artist, often working on paintings during her recording sessions. Look for her commissioned posters as part of NAMM convention promotions, they are extremely detailed illustrations often containing vignettes drawn from experiences of studio life.
