  • THE PERSIAN POWDER KEG — Iran, Saudi Arabia, the Crisis of American Power, and the Coming Reordering of the Middle East (Part 1)
    20 Sep 2026

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

    Episode Overview

In this extended episode of Talks with Turnie, we explore one of the most consequential geopolitical crises of the modern era: the escalating confrontation involving Iran, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the United States, and a wider network of regional and global actors. This discussion goes beyond headlines and daily news updates to examine the historical foundations, strategic calculations, economic implications, and future trajectories of a conflict whose consequences extend far beyond the Middle East.

At its core, this episode argues that the current crisis is not simply about Iran, Saudi Arabia, or even the United States. Rather, it represents a collision of several powerful historical forces: the redistribution of global power, the changing nature of warfare, the growing importance of energy security, the rise of regional powers, and the emergence of a more multipolar international order.

The Middle East has long been one of the world’s most strategically significant regions. It sits at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa, controls some of the most important energy resources on Earth, and contains critical maritime chokepoints that facilitate global trade. For decades, stability in the region has been maintained through a delicate balance of power involving regional states and external powers, particularly the United States. Today, that balance is under immense strain.

    Final Reflection

The Persian Powder Keg is ultimately not a story about a single war, a single country, or a single leader. It is a story about transition. The assumptions that shaped the post-Cold War era are being tested. Power is becoming more distributed. Technology is transforming conflict. Energy remains strategically vital. Regional powers are becoming more assertive. New actors are emerging.

Whether this transformation produces greater stability or greater instability remains uncertain.

What is certain, however, is that the choices made today—in Tehran, Riyadh, Jerusalem, Washington, Beijing, Moscow, and across the developing world—will influence the international system for decades to come.

The challenge before policymakers is not merely to manage a crisis. It is to build a world resilient enough to withstand future crises before they occur.

  • THE ANCHOR IN THE STORM — Truth, Ancient Wisdom, and the Crisis of Modern Peace
    15 Sep 2026

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

Welcome back to Talks with Turnie. Over the last two episodes, we wrestled with the hard mechanics of digital health hype and the trillion-naira financial maneuvers of heavy industry. But today, we are turning the mirror inward. Today, we address the silent, pervasive crisis underlying almost every modern conversation across our societies: The crisis of internal peace and the erosion of absolute truth.

Look around you. We live in the most interconnected, technologically advanced era in human history, yet global data from the World Health Organization shows that global anxiety and depressive disorders have surged to unprecedented highs. We are overwhelmed by choice, inundated by 24-hour algorithmic outrage, and suffocated by what social scientists call 'existential dread.'

In a culture that preaches 'live your truth' and celebrates subjective, disposable morality, why are people more lost, fragmented, and anxious than ever before?

Here is my direct, hard-hitting question for you today:

Have we traded the solid rock of absolute, time-tested truth for the shifting sands of personal convenience—and in doing so, destroyed our ability to find genuine, lasting peace?

This is not a light Sunday school sermon. Today, we are conducting a deep historical, cultural, and theological interrogation. We are looking at scripture, ancient philosophy, spiritual leaders across generations, and the psychological mechanics of peace.

If you want superficial positivity, turn on a wellness podcast. But if you want to understand how human beings have survived chaos throughout history, stay tuned.

  • THE DANGOTE MEGA-IPO — Industrial Titan, Sovereign Risk, or Financial Masterstroke?
    14 Sep 2026

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

Welcome back to Talks with Turnie. If you thought Episode 2 rustled feathers when we took down the digital health hype machine, buckle your seatbelts for today. Because today, we are taking on the biggest financial event in the history of African capital markets.

We are dissecting the Dangote Petroleum Refinery Initial Public Offering.

Right now, the headlines across Lagos, London, and Johannesburg are screaming. Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved the listing. The order book opens at ₦525 a share, putting up 4.1 billion ordinary shares to raise an astronomical ₦2.15 trillion—over $1.6 billion in fresh equity. The entire enterprise is being floating at an implied market valuation pushing between $40 billion and $50 billion.

Let that number sink in. That is larger than the entire market capitalization of several national African stock exchanges combined! Aliko Dangote isn't just selling shares in a business; he is floating a nation-state within a nation-state.

Here is the raw, uncomfortable question I am putting on the table today:

Is the Dangote mega-IPO an industrial triumph that finally unlocks economic sovereignty for Africa, or are everyday investors being sold equity in a high-leverage monopoly designed to de-risk one billionaire’s debt while shifting structural systemic risk onto the African public?

If you want a corporate PR speech, go turn on business news networks. But if you want a ruthless financial autopsy of the numbers, the debt, the crude-feedstock wars, the valuation anomalies, and the geopolitical fallout—you are in the right place.

Put on your analytical hat. We are diving deep into the mega-refinery.
