This week, the Dads dive into one of the most memorable and genuinely creepy episodes of Tales From The Crypt — Season 2’s “Television Terror”!
Horton Rivers (Morton Downey Jr.) is a ratings-hungry shock journalist who will do just about anything to give his audience a show they’ll never forget. So when he takes his camera crew inside the infamous Ritter Home Boarding House for a live broadcast, he thinks he’s found the perfect ratings stunt.
There’s just one problem… the house is actually haunted.
The Dads break down Morton Downey Jr.’s wonderfully obnoxious performance, the episode’s creepy haunted-house atmosphere, its darkly hilarious take on sensationalist television, and the surprisingly ahead-of-its-time use of a live-camera perspective that feels like a precursor to the found-footage horror that would become popular years later.
Is “Television Terror” one of the scariest episodes of Tales From The Crypt? Is Horton Rivers the ultimate horror-TV asshole? And just how far would YOU go for ratings?
Tune in… if you dare!
