In this episode, we talk to Dr. Marc Cassidy and Dr. Justin Little, two UC anesthesiology residency grads who took different roads after training, about academic versus private practice. Marc spent some time in private practice before coming back to academics, and Justin is helping launch TriHealth’s new anesthesiology residency from the private practice side. Spoiler alert- the line between the two is a little blurrier than you think!

In this episode, I talk to Dr. Jay Mesrobian, former National Medical Director and Chief Clinical Officer for TeamHealth Anesthesiology, about why the skills we call "soft" are the hardest ones to learn, and how literature, philosophy, and a willingness to talk about your own mistakes can make you a better leader. We also cover meetings, mentorship, Duke Ellington, and why coaching T-ball may be the hardest management job there is.

This special episode is the third in a series- the Wisdom of Interns (Episode 7) and the Wisdom of CA1s (episode 21) are prequels, featuring the same residents over their time in residency sharing their wisdom as they have continued their journey through residency. I hope you like it!
