For years, small cell lung cancer (SCLC) had far fewer treatment options than other lung cancers. That is changing. Host James Hiter talks with Montessa Lee, a long-term SCLC survivor diagnosed at 28 in 2006, about the research she has waited nearly 20 years to see.
They discuss what SCLC subtypes are and how to ask your doctor about them, why SCLC can change over time, and the questions every newly diagnosed patient should ask. Montessa also shares how she manages long-term side effects, why quality of life belongs at the center of research, and why outdated online statistics don't tell today's story.
If there's any time to be diagnosed, Montessa says, it's now. And you're not in it alone.
Guests:
- James Hiter: Host, patient advocate living with lung cancer; founder, Streak For a Cure; LCFA Speakers Bureau
