  • Return to Rural Missouri: A Walk Through West Alton
    9 Oct 2026
In this episode, host Luke Dietterle talks with Deana Dothage, Extension and Engagement Specialist, Field Specialist in Community Development, MU Extension, St. Charles County and Mayor William "Willie" Richter of West Alton, MO, and systems administrator for Orchard Farm School District for a firsthand look at West Alton, Missouri, a small river town with a big story. Deana shares what inspired her Return to Rural Missouri series, and Mayor Richter, an alderman since 2000 and mayor since 2009, opens up about his decades of service and deep ties to the community. West Alton has weathered more than its share of change from a population in the thousands down to just 356 today, shaped by the Great Flood of '93 and the 2019 flood. Yet the town endures. It's a conversation about resilience, community pride, and what makes a small town worth fighting for.

  • Jennifer Bardot on What G.R.I.T. Built
    4 Sep 2026

Show-Me MO Success welcomes back its first-ever return guest. Assistant Director Mike Quinata fills in for host Luke Dietterle to catch up with Jennifer Bardot, founder and CEO of the G.R.I.T. Platform, Growth, Resilience, Intention, Tenacity whom listeners first met in June 2024 after her keynote at MU Extension's Elevate Conference. Two years later she's published two more anthologies, opened what began as a women's association to all leaders, built out the G.R.I.T. Academy, launched a podcast production company, and grown a St. Louis community into one with members in Washington DC, Florida and Kansas.

Listen in as Jennifer and Mike discuss why she opened the community to men, how the Academy and coaching pods fit together, and the introverted member who went from joining the community to speaking on stage in front of 280 people. Her advice for anyone waiting to feel ready: start before you have it figured out.

Show-Me MO Success brings you stories of success from businesses and communities across Missouri, listen to her first episode here.
