  • Is This God or Just Me? Samuel Had Eli to Help Him Hear It. | Hearing God’s Voice for Christian Women Starting a Business | Set Apart Startup
    22 Oct 2026
If you’re searching “hearing God’s voice” or “starting a business with God” and you can’t tell whether the thought in your head is Him or just you, this episode is for you. Why Hearing God’s Voice About Starting a Business Feels So Hard For a long time, I couldn’t tell which way I was supposed to go. Look for another job, using the skills and experience I’d gained over the years, or start my own business. I wanted to know whether I was hearing God’s voice, or just my own thoughts. Maybe you’re in that spot right now. The thought shows up while you’re doing the dishes, folding laundry, or driving with nothing playing. What if I started that business? And right behind it, the second thought. Is that God? Or is that just me? For some women it arrives the week after a job ends, while they sit in the parking lot with their phone in hand. For some it’s a Sunday, when the pastor says God is calling a few of you to build something. For some it’s a friend across the table who says you have a gift for this. And for the woman who tried once and it didn’t go the way she hoped, the thought comes back with a second fear attached: being seen trying again. Then the explaining starts. It’s probably just a rough month. Somebody else already does this. I’m not qualified. I’ll start when I’m ready. Another month goes by, and you haven’t told anyone. You Don’t Have to Settle Your Business Calling Tonight Not being sure at the start does not mean you missed God. You don’t need to settle your business calling tonight, and you don’t need certainty before you ask. Today we look at how starting a business with God can begin, with a child who didn’t recognize who was calling him. Three Things Worth Watching For These are not promises from Scripture. They’re what women often notice, and then test. The idea keeps coming back, and it’s still there days later. People keep pointing at it. A need keeps crossing your path. Any one of these on its own could just be a good idea. Together, over time, they’re worth taking seriously. What Samuel Teaches About Recognizing God’s Voice (1 Samuel 3) Maybe it keeps coming back because you want it so badly. Maybe it’s just you. That’s a fair thing to ask, and Samuel’s story speaks to it. First Samuel 3 says the word of the LORD was precious in those days, and there was no open vision. In that rare time, Samuel, a child serving under Eli the priest, was lying down when he heard his name called. He thought it was Eli. He went to Eli, and Eli said he hadn’t called him. It happened a second time. Then a third time, and the text says, “Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.” “Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.” (1 Samuel 3:7, KJV) He did not yet know the LORD, and God called him by name anyway. Learning to recognize God’s voice came after. Take It to the Right Person I can’t tell you how God will speak to you, and this passage doesn’t promise a pattern. What it shows us is one night, and what Samuel did next. He took it to Eli, the priest he served under, who was right there in his everyday life and called Samuel “my son.” Eli was not a perfect man, and the same chapter tells us so. But on that night he saw what Samuel could not see yet, and he told him what to say. So when you take this to someone, choose carefully. Don’t take it to just anyone with an opinion. That might be a pastor, a mentor, or a friend who has watched you for years. Choose someone who knows you well and knows the Lord, and who will tell you what they actually see, even when it isn’t what you hoped to hear. My Own Story: A Business Prayer and a Business Calling I asked this question about a job and a business. I had prayed for a very long time, one simple business prayer, to run my own faith based business from home and work with God as my boss. Today I’m a Christian business owner living that dream. He never promised me riches. What He reminded me of was the last commission: to use my gifts to promote the gospel, and to teach others through my own journey. One Step This Week The next time the thought comes, write it down, on your phone or in a notebook, whichever is closer. Exactly as it came, with today’s date. A line or two is enough. When it comes again, write the date again. The dates will show you whether it’s a thought that passes, or one that returns. And a question to carry: when the idea comes back, who is the person who knows you well, knows the Lord, and has already seen it in you? It won’t tell you whether the nudge is from ...

  • You Finally Have Profit and No Idea What to Do With It? A Good Steward Decides Before It Arrives. | Business Profit for Christian Women | Set Apart Startup
    17 Oct 2026

If you’re searching “good steward” or “business profit” because the money finally started coming in and you’re not sure what to do with it, this episode is for you.

You’re finally making some money. Maybe a client paid on time for once. Maybe the launch did better than you expected. Maybe the month came in higher than what you needed. You could call it a financial blessing. And then it’s gone. A cart open at midnight. A subscription you forgot about. One more course. A month later, nothing looks any different.

You Are Allowed to Enjoy Your Business Profit

Before any strategy, this episode starts with permission. First Timothy 6:17 says God “giveth us richly all things to enjoy.” As a Christian business owner, you don’t need a defense for every purchase. A treat is not a sin. A good meal is not a sin.

What a Good Steward Learns From Boaz in Ruth 2

Boaz was “a mighty man of wealth,” and he noticed the widow gleaning in his field. Then he gave his young men an instruction: “And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.” The extra was built into the reaping. It was not what happened to be left over. That is stewardship in business at its simplest: pay attention, and decide the edge of the field before the harvest.

Financial Stewardship Starts Before the Money Lands

If you wait to see what’s left, there is usually nothing left. If you decide ahead, every part of it has somewhere to go. Some for savings, some for someone else, some for you to enjoy on purpose, and some back into the business. A faith based business still has a question to answer after the sale: what happens to the money?

    Giving Without Needing Credit

Sim shares her own story of spending on the newest phone, learning to spend on needs over wants, putting the extra into savings, and helping someone in need without anyone knowing. Jesus says it in Matthew 6:3-4: “let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.”

    One Step for This Week

Before the next payment lands, decide what the first extra amount will do. Save it, give it, or enjoy it. Pick one, and write it down before the money arrives.

Recommended for: Christian women business owners whose month finally came in higher than they needed. Women who find the extra is gone before anything gets set aside. Anyone who feels every purchase needs a defense.

  • Trusting God When the Economy Shakes Your Business: What Hezekiah Can Teach Christian Women in Business | Set Apart Startup
    8 Oct 2026

If you're searching "trusting God in difficult times," "how to trust God" or "economic uncertainty," this episode is for you.

Trusting God When the Economy Shakes Your Business

Your clients are buying slower. They ask for discounts. They take longer to say yes. Your software, contractors and internet all cost more. You tell everyone you're trusting God with your business, then you open the bank app, close it, and open it again ten minutes later.

Statistics Canada, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics and the National Federation of Independent Business all tell the same story. Prices are rising, and small business owners name inflation as one of their problems. So when a client hesitates, it might not be your offer. It might not be your faith either.

What Hezekiah Can Teach Christian Women in Business About Trusting God

Hezekiah trusted the LORD God of Israel. Then Assyria took the fenced cities of Judah, and a great army came anyway. Assyria's messengers sent him a letter aimed at his trust. Here is what he did with it:

"And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD." (2 Kings 19:14, KJV)

He read all of it. Then he took it to God and laid it open.

How to Trust God With Your Numbers, Pricing and Slow Seasons

Trusting God in difficult times has a shape. Look at your real numbers. Tell God what you see and ask Him for the wise next step. Then make the decision you've been putting off.

We walk through three real situations: a client asking for a discount, a $1,200 month followed by a $280 month and why that's a slow season, not a failed business, and whether raising prices is greed or faithfulness. I also share my own story of putting myself through university on my own, and what it taught me about budgeting.

    Your One Step This Week

Before you open your bank app or your analytics, stop for sixty seconds and tell God what you're about to look at. Then write down three things: one way this economy is hitting your business, one way it's hitting your home, and one number you've been avoiding.

Trusting God with your numbers starts the way it did for Hezekiah: read all of it, then spread it before the LORD.
