  • Trusting God When the Economy Shakes Your Business: What Hezekiah Can Teach Christian Women in Business | Set Apart Startup
    8 Oct 2026

If you're searching "trusting God in difficult times," "how to trust God" or "economic uncertainty," this episode is for you.

Trusting God When the Economy Shakes Your Business

Your clients are buying slower. They ask for discounts. They take longer to say yes. Your software, contractors and internet all cost more. You tell everyone you're trusting God with your business, then you open the bank app, close it, and open it again ten minutes later.

Statistics Canada, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics and the National Federation of Independent Business all tell the same story. Prices are rising, and small business owners name inflation as one of their problems. So when a client hesitates, it might not be your offer. It might not be your faith either.

What Hezekiah Can Teach Christian Women in Business About Trusting God

Hezekiah trusted the LORD God of Israel. Then Assyria took the fenced cities of Judah, and a great army came anyway. Assyria's messengers sent him a letter aimed at his trust. Here is what he did with it:

"And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD." (2 Kings 19:14, KJV)

He read all of it. Then he took it to God and laid it open.

How to Trust God With Your Numbers, Pricing and Slow Seasons

Trusting God in difficult times has a shape. Look at your real numbers. Tell God what you see and ask Him for the wise next step. Then make the decision you've been putting off.

We walk through three real situations: a client asking for a discount, a $1,200 month followed by a $280 month and why that's a slow season, not a failed business, and whether raising prices is greed or faithfulness. I also share my own story of putting myself through university on my own, and what it taught me about budgeting.

    Your One Step This Week

Before you open your bank app or your analytics, stop for sixty seconds and tell God what you're about to look at. Then write down three things: one way this economy is hitting your business, one way it's hitting your home, and one number you've been avoiding.

Trusting God with your numbers starts the way it did for Hezekiah: read all of it, then spread it before the LORD.

  • Waiting for a Guaranteed Outcome Before You Invest? God Calls You a Good and Faithful Servant, Not a Guaranteed One. | Parable of the Talents for Christian Women | Set Apart Startup
    1 Oct 2026

If you're searching "parable of the talents" or "fear of investing in your business," this episode is for you.

The Parable of the Talents Isn't About a Guaranteed Return

There's a version of investing you'll only do if someone can guarantee the outcome first — show me the return before I hand over the risk. That's not caution, that's fear wearing a business suit. In Matthew 25:14-30, a master hands three servants talents before he leaves. Two put theirs to work, not knowing for certain how it will turn out. One buries his — safe, untouched, guaranteed not to lose it, and guaranteed not to grow it either.

    What the Master Actually Rewards

When the master returns, he doesn't praise the servant who protected what he was given. He says to the one who invested it: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord" (Matthew 25:21). He's praised for faithfulness in the middle of not knowing — not for a guaranteed return on investment. The servant who buried his talent out of fear is called wicked and slothful, not because he lost money, but because fear was the reason he never tried.

Overcoming Fear Without a Sign in Writing

You already take this kind of risk elsewhere — buying from someone because of their testimonial, trusting their result will somehow be yours too. So why is it harder to trust the God who gave you the gift in the first place? Starting small doesn't mean starting blind: be discerning, pray before you move, and don't take out a loan because someone told you it's your season. Ask God for His own confirmation first. A safety net you build because you're unsure you can repay it isn't wisdom — it's still fear, just wearing a spreadsheet.

Why This Matters in Today's Economy

The economy isn't standing still while you wait for certainty. Don't wait until you're laid off to start praying about what you're called to do — start now, and ask God what's uniquely yours to offer, because you weren't made to be a copy.

Multiplying What You Have — A Real Example

Multiplying your talent might look as simple as a print-on-demand shop — not slapping "Faith Over Fear" on a tee, but designing a shirt around Hebrews 12:2 and writing a product description that actually points the wearer back to Christ. That's the difference between a hollow faith-based product and an intentional one.

Recommended for: Christian women weighing whether to start or grow a faith-led business, women stuck waiting for a guaranteed outcome before taking a next step, and anyone wrestling with fear over an unseen return on their investment.

  • Still Skipping Your Self-Pay? God Says the Laborer Is Worthy of Her Wages. | Biblical Stewardship for Christian Women | Set Apart Startup
    24 Sep 2026

Biblical stewardship and self-pay for Christian women in business: why guilt shows up when you pay yourself

If you're searching "self-pay" or "biblical stewardship" — this episode is for you. As a Christian woman in business, self-pay is the one place guilt shows up first. You feel guilty taking money from your own business. But the moment someone buys from you, they feel zero guilt asking for a refund — even when your terms were crystal clear.

What Israel's wilderness grumbling reveals about wanting a refund on the real thing

God delivered Israel out of slavery — the real thing, exactly as promised. Partway through the wilderness, when the road got hard, they said, "Take us back to Egypt." Fear can make real freedom feel worse than the certainty of what came before. God had already done exactly what He said He'd do — the deliverance wasn't broken just because the journey after it was hard.

What the widow's two mites free you from

The wealthy givers in the temple weren't wrong for giving from their surplus. Nobody was told to starve their own household to prove devotion. Her story was never about the size of the sacrifice — it was her heart, her willingness to put God first with what she had (Mark 12:41-44).

Self-pay isn't the one negotiable bill

Your hosting gets paid. Your email tool gets paid. Everything else in your business gets paid, on time, no hesitation. Self-pay is too often the one line item you let slide — as if God cares more about your tools being paid than He cares about you.

    Fair pay runs both directions

"The laborer is worthy of his wages" (Luke 10:7) is Jesus' own words, not a worldly principle. A reasonable, budgeted sacrifice for a kingdom-given business is faithful biblical stewardship — but reasonable means bills and budget come first.

    Your next faithful step

Name one honest thing: is your self-pay this month based on what the business can actually afford, or on guilt about what you haven't hit yet?

Recommended for: Christian women running a solo business who feel guilty paying themselves, women unsure if a small self-pay still counts as faithful stewardship, anyone weighing fair pay against sacrifice for a kingdom-given business.
