    • CATS! Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Animals & Fowl Nuisances Ordinance Amendment
      Jan 30 2026

On this VIDEO episode of Southeast Iowa Today John Bain is at Mount Pleasant, Iowa, City Hall for the City Council Meeting. It’s the 4th Wednesday of January. January 28,2026, to be even more specific. Lots on the Agenda this night, but John was specifically interested in Old Business and the 3rd Reading and adopt ordinance amending Chapter 4 (Animals and fowl) and Chapter 13 (Nuisances) of the Mount Pleasant, Iowa Code of Ordinances. A lot of folks have really been discussing this topic quite a bit on social media the past couple of weeks and John wanted to see just how crazy the crazy cat people and the crazy government were going to get on this. As you will see, no craziness, just concerns. And, it sounds like if a certain reporter from a certain local newspaper would have reported on this correctly a while back, there might not have been the confusion.
