    • Introducing Q Therapy
      Feb 16 2022

I am launching my new channel, Q Therapy, to promote mental health awareness and education for the LGBTQ+ community. Parents, professionals and allies are all welcome! Let's keep this channel a safe space for learning and sharing.

There are roughly 20 milling adults in the US that identify as LGBTQ +, including 2 million that account for LBTQ young people. About 40% of LGBTQ + adults experienced a mental health problem in the past year. Did you know that two and a half percent are more likely than non-LGBTQ adults to battle anxiety and depression? LGBTQ people are less likely to seek medical and mental health care out of fear of not getting affirmed LGBTQ care and treatment. 70% of transgender and GNC people said that they experienced some type of discrimination in a healthcare setting. According to the human rights campaign, LGBTQ+ young people are twice as likely to have been bullied and physically attacked at school and in the community. According to the Trevor National Survey, Just half of the 10,000 children that were surveyed have one adult at home they feel they can turn to for support and, sadly, 42 % have seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year.
