    A messenger arrives from Emperor Saturninus asking for a meeting with Lucius, and Lucius agrees to come to Rome. Tamora visits Titus, disguised as “Revenge”, and accompanied by her sons Chiron and Demetrius who are disguised as “Rape” and “Murder”. She tries to trick Titus into inviting Lucius to a feast so she can destroy him. Titus plays along, asking that “Rape” and “Murder” stay behind with him. Once Tamora leaves, Titus brings in Lavinia and Publius to help him slit Chiron and Demetrius’s throats, catching their blood in a basin and baking their flesh into a pie. Dressed as a cook, Titus hosts Saturninus, Tamora, Lucius and their court. He asks Saturninus a riddle about Virginius (who killed his own daughter after she was raped), and when Saturninus agrees the girl should die to spare her shame, Titus kills Lavinia. He then reveals that Chiron and Demetrius murdered Bassianus and raped Lavinia, and that Tamora has just eaten her own sons baked in a pie. Titus kills Tamora, Saturninus kills Titus, and Lucius kills Saturninus. Lucius is proclaimed the new emperor of Rome by the people, Aaron is sentenced to be buried chest-deep in the earth and left to starve, Tamora’s corpse is thrown out unburied to be eaten by wild beasts, and Titus and Lainia receive proper family burials.     Chiron and Demtrius hide the nurse's body as Aaron plans to substitute a white baby for his own and flee Rome to raise his son among the Goths. Driven to madness, Titus gets Marcus, Young Lucius and Publius to send written appeals to Justice on arrows shot directly into the imperial court. He pays a merchant carrying a basket of pigeons to deliver a petition to Emperor Saturninus. Inside the courtyard, Saturninus flies into a rage at the arrows and orders the merchant to be hanged. Aemilius rushes in to report that Lucius (Titus’s banished son) has raised a massive army of Goths and is marching on Rome with the support of the Roman citizens. Tamora tries to calm Saturninus, convincing him to let her handle Titus through deception rather than war. Meanwhile, outside Rome, Lucius gets news that his scouts have captured Aaron and his baby. He orders Aaron to be hanged immediately, but Aaron strikes a deal: if Lucius promises to spare the baby’s life, Aaron will confess every crime that he committed with Tamora and her sons. Lucius agrees, and Aaron boasts of orchestrating Bassianus’s murder, framing Titus’s sons (Martius and Quintus) for the crime, tricking Titus into severing his own hand, and engineering the brutal rape and mutilation of Lavinia.     Titus dines with his brother Marcus, his mutilated daughter Lavinia, and his grandson “Young Lucius”, urging them to eat only enough to fuel their desire for revenge. When Marcus kills a fly buzzing at the table with a knife, Titus angrily calls Marcus a murderer, claiming the fly was a harmless guest. Marcus explains he killed it because it was black (like the Moor, Aaron), and Titus joins in and strikes the fly twice–once for Aaron and once for Tamora. Marcus worries about Titus’s sanity as Titus takes Lavinia and Young Lucius away to read sad stories. Later, Young Lucius runs into the garden terrified as Lavinia chases him with his schoolbooks. Marcus and Titus calm the boy down as Lavinia uses her stumps to flip through Young Lucius’s copy of Ovid’s Metamorphoses to the story of Philomel–who was raped and had her tongue cut out–to signal her own fate, then drags a staff in the sand to write the names Chiron and Demetrius. Titus, Marcus, and Young Lucius swear to hunt down and kill Tamora’s sons. Titus instructs Young Lucius to take a load of weapons as “gifts” to Chiron and Demetrius. When Young Lucius delivers the weapons, Aaron realizes that Titus and his family now know the truth about the rape. Meanwhile, a nurse arrives carrying Tamora’s newborn baby. Because the baby is dark-skinned (Aaron’s child), Tamora has secretly ordered the nurse to kill it so Emperor Saturninus will not discover their affair. Aaron silences Chiron and Demetrius (who suggest killing their half-brother) and stabs the nurse to death after learning she spoke to a midwife.
