Scripture Reference: Nehemiah 3 In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches from Nehemiah 3 and the problem of lazy leadership—both then and now. Some leaders in Nehemiah’s day refused to work, yet the people continued rebuilding the wall faithfully. Pastor uses this to speak into today's culture, especially among young leaders, reminding us that real leadership requires action, effort, and humility. If you want to lead, you must be willing to build and work. Be the example—don’t wait for someone else to hand it to you. ---- Discover fundamental truths and the power of Scripture with Pastor David E. Sumrall on Daily Devotions. • Daily Devotions: How to Think About Pastors - August 07, 2025
    Aug 7 2025
1 Corinthians 4:1–5 (NLT) — “So look at Apollos and me as mere servants of Christ who have been put in charge of explaining God’s mysteries.” In today’s devotion, Pastor David Sumrall shows us the Apostle Paul’s heart as he faced comparison, criticism, and judgment from others in Corinth. Paul reminds the believers not to see ministers as celebrities, but as faithful servants of Christ entrusted with spiritual responsibility. He teaches that what truly matters is not public opinion or even our own self-evaluation, but God’s judgment—because only God sees our true motives and hearts. Pastor David encourages every pastor and believer: stop keeping your happiness in someone else’s head. Keep your conscience clear, stay faithful to what God has called you to do, and remember—what matters most is what the Lord thinks, not people’s praise or criticism. Watch today’s devotion and be reminded that your identity and worth are rooted in God’s purpose, not in public approval. ---- Discover fundamental truths and the power of Scripture with Pastor David E. • Daily Devotions: The Constraints of Ministry - August 6, 2025
    Aug 6 2025
📖 1 Corinthians 3:12–13 (NLT) says, “Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials... But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done.” In today’s Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shares a message from 1 Corinthians 3 about the constraints of ministry and the choices every leader must make in building the lives of others. The Apostle Paul reminds us that as pastors and leaders, we are limited by the spiritual maturity of those we lead, by the specific gifts God has given us, and by the grace assigned to our calling. But even within those constraints, we make the crucial decision of what to build with—temporary materials like wood, hay, and straw, or lasting ones like gold, silver, and jewels. When the fires of life come, only what’s built on God’s Word and truth will stand. As Pastor David explains, building with solid, eternal materials takes more time and effort, but the results are lasting. Whether you are a church leader or a believer being discipled, ask yourself: are you building—and allowing others to build into your life—with what will endure? Watch the full devotion now and be challenged to build wisely. ---- Discover fundamental truths and the power of Scripture with Pastor David E. Sumrall on Daily Devotions.
