EPISODE 6 — I Am Not Responsible for Controlling What You Think About Me
This might be one of the hardest lessons I've had to actually live.
Because saying “I don't care what people think about me” is easy.
Until you're misunderstood.
Until you've fucked up.
Until someone you love holds a version of you that you desperately
want to correct.
Then comes the explaining.
The overthinking.
The extra message.
The apology.
The context.
The desperate attempt to correct their fucking PowerPoint presentation
about you.
But here's what I'm learning:
Accountability isn't taking all the blame.
It's taking what's yours — and leaving the rest where it belongs.
I am responsible for my behaviour.
My communication.
My apologies.
My growth.
But I am not responsible for controlling what you think about me.
This episode is about accountability without self-punishment, the
difference between reflection and rumination, learning to tolerate
being misunderstood, and recognising that sometimes there simply isn't
another sentence you need to say.
Maybe freedom isn't learning not to care.
Maybe it's learning how to care without abandoning yourself.
Episode 6 of Seven Lessons Life Has Taught Me Lately.
Raw and Revitalised.
Real talk for real humans who are healing, growing and trying to
figure this shit out.
