  • Mom Arrested for Leaving Her Kids Home Alone
    3 Nov 2026

Can you legally leave your kids home alone? What age can a child stay home alone without a babysitter? And could parents face felony child neglect charges for making that decision?

In this episode of Melissa Unfiltered, I examine the controversial arrest of a Florida mother who left her four children, ages 9 to 14, home alone while traveling for work. The mother was arrested at the airport and charged with four felony counts of child neglect after one of her children was injured and called 911.

But this story raises much bigger questions about parenting laws, skyrocketing babysitting costs, child safety, and parental rights in America.

With babysitters charging as much as $30 an hour, childcare becoming increasingly expensive, and many parents struggling to balance work and family responsibilities, when is it reasonable to leave children home alone?

After seeing the headlines, I initially believed the mother deserved to be arrested. But after researching the circumstances, including the family's reported divorce and custody issues, I completely changed my perspective.

    In this episode, I discuss:

    - Leaving kids home alone: How old is old enough, and who gets to decide?
    - Child neglect laws: Why some states have no specific minimum age for leaving children unsupervised.
    - Babysitting costs: Are rising childcare expenses putting working parents in impossible situations?
    - The Florida mom arrest: What happened, why she was charged, and the questions that remain unanswered.
    - Parental rights: Should police and child protective services determine when children are mature enough to stay home alone?
    - Helicopter parenting: Are we raising children who aren't allowed to develop independence?
    - Working moms and single parents:*What happens when you can't afford childcare but still need to provide for your family?

I also question whether removing children from their home and placing them with another parent always serves their best interests.

💬 I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

How old were your children when you first left them home alone? Would you leave a 14-year-old in charge of younger siblings? And should a parent face criminal charges for doing so?

Share your opinion in the comments. This is a conversation every parent should be having.

  • The Dangers of AI: What Are We Really Giving Up?
    27 Oct 2026

Artificial intelligence promises to make our lives easier. But what are we really giving up in exchange for convenience?

From AI voice cloning scams and hackers accessing personal information to children confiding in AI chatbots, the dangers of artificial intelligence raise serious questions about privacy, security, manipulation, and control.

In this episode of Melissa Unfiltered, I'm asking the questions I don't think enough people are asking.

We're being told that AI will improve nearly every part of our lives. It can answer our questions, manage our schedules, make decisions, and even become a companion. But as we give these systems more access to our personal information, are we becoming dangerously dependent on technology we don't fully understand?

    I'm digging into:

🔴 AI privacy and security: What happens when AI tools have access to your email, financial information, and personal data?

🔴 AI voice cloning and scams: Could criminals use artificial intelligence to impersonate someone you love?

🔴 Children and AI chatbots: Why are kids treating artificial intelligence like a trusted friend, and what are the risks?

🔴 AI misinformation: What happens when we rely on systems that can confidently give us incorrect information?

🔴 Big Tech and control: Who is really benefiting from the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence?

🔴 Our growing dependence on AI: Are we trading our privacy, independence, and critical thinking for convenience?

I'm not saying AI can't be useful. I use it myself. But I believe we need to start asking harder questions before we hand over more of our lives to these systems.

Just because technology can do something doesn't mean we should let it.

What concerns you most about artificial intelligence? The privacy risks? The impact on children? The possibility of manipulation? Or something else entirely?

  • Teacher Exposes What REALLY Happens Inside Public Schools
    20 Oct 2026

What's really happening inside public schools? Are failing public schools putting our children's education and safety at risk?

Former substitute teacher Geno Young is exposing disturbing incidents he says he witnessed inside Chicago-area public schools and what he claims school administrators did to keep these problems quiet.

I sat down with Geno Young, author of "Sex, Drugs, and Illiteracy: The Death of Education in America Today", to talk about the growing public school crisis, student violence, declining academic standards, school safety, and the lack of accountability in America's education system.

And let me tell you, some of the stories he shared absolutely disgusted me.

We're talking about students allegedly engaging in sexual activity and livestreaming it from a classroom. Violent fights. A teacher accused of making inappropriate comments about students who was reportedly allowed to work at another school. And school administrators who, according to Geno, failed to take meaningful action.

How is any of this acceptable inside our public schools?

Geno spent roughly a year working in Chicago-area public schools. He went into teaching hoping to make a difference. Instead, he says he witnessed a complete breakdown of classroom discipline, student behavior, academic accountability, and school safety.

And when he reported serious problems and later faced threats from a student, he says he ultimately lost his job.

But here's what really concerns me: Geno says these problems aren't limited to Chicago public schools.

Parents in suburban school districts, affluent communities, and states across America need to be paying attention, too.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    - What's really happening inside public school classrooms.
    - Disturbing allegations of sexual misconduct and inappropriate student behavior.
    - Why some schools are allegedly failing to discipline students.
    - Student violence, threats against teachers, and school safety concerns.
    - Why academic standards and student accountability may be declining.
    - How school administrators allegedly handle complaints and serious incidents.
    - Why teachers may be afraid to speak up about problems in public education.
    - Parental rights, school transparency, and what parents should be asking their school districts.
    - Why Geno believes America's public education crisis is spreading beyond Chicago.

As a Mom, I find it absolutely terrifying that parents can send their children to school every morning without knowing what's happening behind those classroom doors.

We trust schools to educate our children, keep them safe, and prepare them for the real world. But what happens when those schools stop holding students and administrators accountable?

I don't care if your children attend public school, private school, or you homeschool like I do. We're all taxpayers. Every parent needs to be asking questions.

Because protecting our children and demanding accountability from our education system should never be controversial.

I want to know what YOU think.

Are America's public schools failing our children? Have you witnessed similar problems in your child's school district? Tell me in the comments.

And please share this episode with another parent. These are conversations we cannot afford to ignore.
