    • Episode 6: Your Weakness Might Be Your Calling | The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush
      Jan 28 2026

Have you ever felt like you just don't belong?

Like everyone else got the memo—the skill, the background, the confidence—and you're standing there wondering how long before they figure out you're not supposed to be here?

      Yeah. Me too.

In this episode, I share the powerful Legend of the Indian Paintbrush—a Plains Native American story about a boy named Little Gopher who couldn't do any of the things his tribe valued. He couldn't hunt. He couldn't run fast. He couldn't fight.

But what he discovered on his vision quest changed everything.

      This isn't just a children's story. It's a masterclass in:
→ Recognizing your unique gifts when they don't look like everyone else's
→ The patience required to develop mastery
→ Why your "weakness" might actually be your calling in disguise

      WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
      - Why comparing yourself to "warriors" keeps you stuck
      - The difference between what you're bad at and what you're meant for
      - How to identify YOUR paintbrush—your unique contribution to the world
      - A powerful question to ask yourself this week

      YOUR CHALLENGE:
By the end of this episode, I want you to answer one question: What have you been apologizing for that might actually be your gift?

      NEXT EPISODE:
"Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters"—a Zimbabwean tale about two sisters competing to become queen. The twist? It's not the one you'd expect who wins. And the lesson for leaders is gold.

    • Episode 5. The Monkey and the Crocodile: An Indian Folk Tale About Trust and Betrayal
      Jan 25 2026

Have you ever had a friend turn on you? Not a stranger. Not a competitor. A friend.

In this episode of Maxima's Tales, we travel to India for one of the world's most powerful stories about trust, betrayal, and the quick thinking that saves everything.

A generous monkey shares his food with a hungry crocodile. They become best friends. But when the crocodile's wife demands the monkey's heart, everything changes. Trapped in the middle of the river with nowhere to go, the monkey must think fast—or die.

      THE STORY:
The Monkey and the Crocodile is an ancient Indian folk tale from the Panchatantra, a collection of wisdom stories over 2,000 years old. These tales traveled from India to Persia, Arabia, and eventually to Europe, influencing storytellers across the world.

      But this isn't just a children's story. It's a masterclass in:

→ Recognizing when a partnership turns toxic
      → Staying calm under pressure
→ Knowing when to end a relationship completely
→ Protecting what matters most—your values, your vision, your heart

      THREE BUSINESS LESSONS:

      1. GENEROSITY CREATES RELATIONSHIPS. BOUNDARIES PROTECT THEM.
The monkey gave freely—but never asked what the relationship was really based on. In business, open doors with generosity, but protect yourself with boundaries.

      2. WHEN YOU'RE IN DEEP WATER, DON'T PANIC—THINK.
Halfway across the river, the monkey faced certain death. Instead of panicking, he stayed calm and found a creative solution. Your calm is your greatest asset in crisis.

      3. SOME RELATIONSHIPS MUST END COMPLETELY.
The crocodile begged for forgiveness. The monkey said no. Not from bitterness—from wisdom. Some betrayals cannot be repaired. Forgive if you want, but don't give them another ride on your back.
