Playing at home for the first time in August, the Minnesota Twins took two of three games against the Baltimore Orioles, a fellow AL Wild Card contender. David mounts a defense of Alan Roden that frankly confuses Dan, who is ready to send Roden back to Triple-A to clear a roster spot for Byron Buxton. They are equally mixed on what to do with Kaelen Culpepper while being impressed with the play lately from Josh Bell in the DH spot. They discuss the strange play in the Blue Jays-Red Sox game earlier this week as well as a darkhorse bid for an MLB expansion team. After the Minnesota Twins took the first game in this three-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers, David and Dan found themselves wanting another victory. But they and the Twins settle for just one in this border battle against the National League's best team. David shares his experiences from watching the Savannah Bananas at Target Field with his family, and he works through the ups and downs of Royce Lewis' performance this series. Dan is pleased to see Kody Funderburk's excellent play over the last couple of months, and he, like David, thinks that if Kaelen Culpepper is on this team, surely Walker Jenkins should be, too. It wasn't the outcome that might have been expected after the way the Minnesota Twins handled the MLB trade deadline, but the Twins do come away with one victory in Kansas City, and they still managed to keep pace in the AL Central. David and Dan discuss the close competition for playoff spots in the American League and how they think the Twins will figure in that as they head into a difficult stretch of opponents. They are at odds over whether Tom Pohlad can be trusted, even after coming through with some trades this week. But they are in agreement that Royce Lewis looks great, Joe Ryan should have said something earlier, and that there are two key prospects waiting in St. Paul who should no longer be waiting for their call-up.
