This week on Love on the Pod, we’re catching up on all things made-for-TV holiday chaos — from reality TV reunions to brand-new festive films, plus our ultimate Christmas movie rankings.

First up: The Finding Mr. Christmas reunion. We share our honest thoughts on what worked, what definitely didn’t and why it maybe could’ve been an email. We talk about what we wanted more of (hi, Melissa Peterman 👀), the relationship dynamics we wish had been explored and why a reunion should leave us buzzing — not shrugging.

Then we get into A Make or Break Holiday, the movie starring the Finding Mr. Christmas winner. We break down whether the casting lived up to the hype, if the movie delivered on holiday magic and where it landed for us on the cozy-to-forgettable spectrum.

Finally, we each reveal our Top 5 Made-for-TV Holiday Movies, plus a handful of honorable mentions that deserve a little extra love. Expect big feelings, strong opinions and plenty of “wait… YOU put that one where?!”

If you love festive debates, Hallmark drama (on and off screen) and ranking holiday movies like it’s a competitive sport — this episode is for you.

  • 076: The Christmas Baby I Ali Liebert & Katherine Barrell
    Jan 20 2026

    Send us a text

This week on Love on the Pod, we’re diving into The Christmas Baby, starring Ali Liebert and Katherine Barrell — a Hallmark holiday mystery that asks the very important question: what if your entire life pivoted because of a baby at Christmas?

We unpack the twists, the small-town vibes, the slightly chaotic timelines and the emotional weight this movie carries while still wrapping everything up in a cozy Hallmark bow. From Ali Liebert doing what she does best (grounded, heartfelt and quietly compelling) to Katherine Barrell bringing warmth and intrigue, we talk through what worked, what confused us and what moments actually surprised us.

We also dig into the themes of chosen family, identity and how the past has a way of showing up right when you think you’ve moved on — plus whether this one leans more holiday comfort watch or light Christmas mystery with feelings.

Grab your hot cocoa (or wine), because this one gave us plenty to discuss.

  • 075: The Unauthorized Full House Story with the Hosts of Movie Torture
    Jan 2 2026

    Send us a text

On this episode of Love on the Pod, we’re joined by the hosts of Movie Torture to tackle The Unauthorized Full House Story — that somehow thought nostalgia alone would carry it.

    Spoiler alert: it did not.

We break down everything that didn’t work — from questionable casting and wildly uneven performances to a script that felt more like a Wikipedia summary than a compelling story. As lifelong fans of Full House, we wanted to love this… but instead found ourselves asking who this movie was actually made for.

If you enjoy honest takes, respectful roasting and bonding over movies that completely miss the mark, this episode is for you. Consider this a group therapy session for anyone who pressed play out of pure curiosity (or regret).

    Listen for:

    • What makes an “unauthorized” movie feel especially hollow
    • Why this story never finds its emotional footing
    • The difference between nostalgia and lazy storytelling
    • And how Lifetime keeps getting these biopics so wrong

Grab a drink, lower your expectations and join us for a spirited breakdown you won’t want to miss.

  • 074: Have We Met This Christmas? I Danica McKellar & Jesse Hutch
    Dec 24 2025

    Send us a text

This week on Love on the Pod, we’re diving into Have We Met This Christmas, the Great American Family holiday romance starring Danica McKellar and Jesse Hutch. Equal parts cozy, convenient amnesia and emotionally loaded Christmas timing, this movie gives us plenty to unpack.

Danica McKellar stars as Katie, a driven real estate executive who wakes up at a mountain inn after a car accident with no memory of who she is — or why she once swore she’d never speak to innkeeper Emmett again. Enter Jesse Hutch, playing the charming, steady, emotionally mature male lead we all secretly want stranded with us at Christmas. As Katie settles into life at the inn, surrounded by holiday traditions and a warm, close-knit family, she begins to fall for Emmett all over again… unaware that she’s actually the one responsible for the looming sale that could cost the family everything.

We talk about how this movie leans hard into the amnesia trope and whether it uses it thoughtfully or conveniently, the ethics of letting someone fall in love with you while they don’t remember your complicated past, and why mountain inns continue to be the most emotionally healing real estate in the Hallmark-adjacent universe. We also discuss the themes of second chances, identity, ambition versus belonging and whether love can actually be truer the second time around — especially when memories are missing but feelings aren’t.

Plus, we get into Jesse Hutch’s quietly effective performance, Danica McKellar’s comfort-movie credibility, and why this one feels like a very specific Great American Family flavor of Christmas storytelling. Is it predictable? Sure. Did we still have feelings about it? Absolutely.

Pour yourself something cozy, settle in, and join us as we ask the most important question of all: if you forgot everything about your life, would Christmas help you find your way back to the right one?

  • 073: Finding Mr. Christmas - Season 2, Finale
    Dec 23 2025

    Send us a text

The journey to finding Mr. Christmas comes to an end as we break down the season two finale of Finding Mr. Christmas. With only three finalists left — Rustin, Craig and Angel — the pressure is fully on as the men face their final challenge: a three-part acting scene opposite the queen of Hallmark herself, Erin Krakow. Adding an extra layer of charm (and nerves) to the moment, Kristoffer Polaha joins as a special guest, offering guidance, insight and that unmistakable leading-man energy.

We dig into how each finalist approached the scene, what worked, what surprised us and where we could practically see the Hallmark contract being written in real time. From emotional beats to romantic chemistry to who truly embodied the spirit of a future Hallmark leading man, we unpack it all — including our honest reactions to the judges’ feedback and the overall arc of the season.

In the end, Craig is crowned the winner of season two, and we talk through why his performance sealed the deal, how his journey unfolded over the course of the competition and what we hope to see next for him in the Hallmark universe. Plus, we reflect on what this season did right, where it stumbled and why Finding Mr. Christmas continues to be such a fascinating love letter to made-for-TV movie fans.

Grab your hot cocoa, settle in and join us as we say goodbye to another festive season — and hello to the next potential Hallmark heartthrob.

  • 072: A Grand Ole Opry Christmas I Nikki DeLoach & Kristoffer Polaha
    Dec 16 2025

    Send us a text

In this episode of Love on the Pod, we dive into A Grand Ole Opry Christmas, starring Nikki DeLoach and Kristoffer Polaha, and unpack the deeply emotional themes that set this movie apart from a standard holiday romance. We talk about how the film centers on the longing to revisit moments with loved ones who are gone, and the quiet ache of wondering why they made the choices they did while they were still here. The story’s time-bending elements allow the characters, and the audience, to sit with grief, curiosity and compassion, offering a rare Hallmark exploration of reflection, regret and understanding rather than simple wish fulfillment.

We also explore the slow-burn romance between two people who have known each other forever, and what it means to find love later in life with someone whose history is already woven into your own. Their connection isn’t about sparks or grand gestures, but about safety, shared memories and finally seeing each other clearly after years of parallel lives. We discuss how the Grand Ole Opry serves as a meaningful emotional anchor tied to family legacy and unfinished conversations, and why this movie resonates so strongly for viewers navigating loss, second chances and the idea that it’s never too late for love, healing or answers at Christmastime.

  • 071: Finding Mr. Christmas - Season 2, Episode 7
    Dec 15 2025

    Send us a text

In this episode of Love on the Pod, we’re unpacking Finding Mr. Christmas Season 2, Episode 7, an installment that leans fully into heart, vulnerability and what it really means to connect emotionally on screen. The episode opens with the remaining contestants writing Hallmark cards to their moms, a deceptively simple task that quickly becomes a window into each man’s emotional depth, self-awareness and ability to communicate sincerity without sounding scripted. We talk through which messages felt authentic, which ones played it safe and how this challenge subtly reveals who understands the emotional language Hallmark audiences respond to most.

Just when the emotions are already running high, the contestants are surprised by their moms, leading to some of the most genuine and touching moments of the season. We discuss the impact of seeing these relationships up close, how the men react in unscripted moments and what these reunions reveal about their character. This segment shifts the tone of the competition entirely, reminding us that being a convincing romantic lead often starts with emotional openness rather than perfect delivery.

The episode closes with a powerful acting challenge opposite Sharon Lawrence, as the men portray a son visiting his mother at Christmas after the recent death of his father. This scene requires restraint, vulnerability and emotional truth, and we break down which performances felt grounded and deeply affecting versus which struggled to balance grief with warmth. Acting across from Sharon Lawrence raises the bar in a significant way, and we discuss how this final challenge clarifies who can carry a heartfelt Hallmark story rooted in loss, healing and connection. Episode 7 stands out as one of the most emotionally resonant chapters of the season, giving us a clearer picture of who truly has what it takes to be Finding Mr. Christmas.

    Dec 15 2025

    Send us a text

In this episode of Love on the Pod, we’re diving into Finding Mr. Christmas Season 2, Episode 6, where the competition cranks up both the chaos and the chemistry. The guys face off in a hilariously festive, holiday-themed booby trapped obstacle course that feels equal parts Christmas morning and slapstick survival challenge. From unexpected obstacles to pressure-filled moments, this challenge tests not just physical stamina, but composure, adaptability and the ability to keep your holiday spirit intact when things go very wrong very fast.

Then it’s time for romance as the remaining men step into a scene opposite Ashley Williams, and this is where the episode truly shines. Acting across from a Hallmark favorite raises the stakes in a completely different way, and we talk through which performances felt natural, emotionally grounded and genuinely swoony versus which ones leaned a little too hard into nerves. Ashley’s warmth and professionalism bring out surprising layers in some of the contestants, and we discuss how this challenge clarifies who can realistically carry a Hallmark love story.

As always, we share our hot takes, standout moments and growing predictions as the field narrows and the pressure mounts. Whether you’re watching for the romance, the ridiculous challenges, or the fantasy casting possibilities, this episode gives us plenty to talk about.
