In this pilot episode of Let's Talk Travel, host April Watson introduces the show and shares her own path into travel — from a study-abroad semester in Moscow as a 19-year-old Russian studies major, through years as a strategy consultant in Moscow, Paris, and San Francisco, to becoming a Virtuoso-affiliated travel advisor alongside her husband, Warren. She makes the case for why the "bucket list years" are a real, finite window worth planning for with intention. It's a candid first look at who's behind the mic — and why April believes travel might be the most transformative purchase you'll ever make.

Which trips can wait — and which ones can't? In this episode, host April Watson breaks down the framework she and Warren use to help clients sequence their bucket list over a three-to-five-year window, weighing factors like distance, climate, altitude, and physical demands. She walks through her own take on a string of dream destinations — from Antarctica and African safari to Egypt, Japan, Machu Picchu, and Europe's rivers and rails — sharing which ones reward going sooner and which can comfortably wait. Plus, a few simple tricks (think VIP meet-and-greets and longer stays in fewer places) that make even the most ambitious trips easier, whenever you decide to take them.

There's a sound in Africa — a low, somewhere-out-there rumble — that you feel before you hear. In this episode, host April Watson takes listeners deep into the bush for a first-timer's guide to African safari. She breaks down the key differences between South Africa and East Africa, makes the case for pairing Kruger with Victoria Falls, and walks through what a real safari day actually looks like — from the 5:30 AM wake-up to the sundowner on the plains. She also covers the practical side: the best months to go, how far out to book (hint: earlier than you think), and what a luxury safari actually costs. If Africa has been sitting at the top of your list, this is where to start.
