    Jan 27 2026

Nick Alberga & Jay Rosehill preview the final game of Toronto's 5-game homestand as the slumping Leafs take on the red-hot Buffalo Sabres. Toronto has managed just 1 point through the first four games (0-3-1) of the homestand. Plus, the boys weigh in on William Nylander being fined $5,000 for flipping the bird to the camera during Sunday’s broadcast. Additionally, former NHLer Matthew Barnaby stops by to weigh in on the entire circus from over the past few days.

  • Matthew Barnaby Interview
    Jan 27 2026

Nick Alberga & Jay Rosehill are joined by former NHLer Matthew Barnaby — and he shows up with scorching hot takes. Barnaby flat-out proclaims the Maple Leafs aren’t winning a Stanley Cup with Auston Matthews as their captain, questioning the team’s work ethic and labeling their on-ice identity as, “we’re lazy.” He compares Toronto to teams like Florida and Colorado, organizations that pride themselves on relentless effort, and says the Leafs fall well short of that standard.

Barnaby also takes aim at the core — Matthews, Nylander, and company — calling out immaturity and stressing that Matthews, as captain, needs to be far more visible. The guys discuss Matthews not speaking to the media on Friday during Mitch Marner’s homecoming, a moment Barnaby felt was a bad look for the captain. The conversation shifts to Toronto’s crease, with Barnaby questioning how Anthony Stolarz was able to call his own shot and return without an AHL tune-up. From there, Barnaby breaks down the red-hot Buffalo Sabres and what’s clicked for them since firing their GM.

Finally, the boys preview Leafs vs. Sabres. With the season teetering, it’s put up or shut up time for Toronto — and despite all the criticism, Barnaby still picks the Leafs to come through.

  • Homestand From Hell, Season's Slipping Away, & Nylander Flips Bird ft. Dave McCarthy
    Jan 26 2026

Nick Alberga and David Pagnotta break down a disastrous weekend for the Toronto Maple Leafs. It started with a 6–3 embarrassment on Friday night as Mitch Marner returned to Toronto, and ended with the Leafs getting out-matched 4–1 by Colorado, the NHL’s top team. With 29 games remaining, Toronto now sits five points out of a playoff spot. Are the Leafs cooked? The boys debate just how dire things have become.

Additionally, they also unpack the William Nylander camera flip during Sunday’s broadcast — and his subsequent Instagram apology. Plus, NHL.com Leafs reporter Dave McCarthy stops by to help unwrap it all.

  • Dave McCarthy Interview
    Jan 26 2026

Dave McCarthy, who covers the Toronto Maple Leafs for NHL.com, joined Nick Alberga & David Pagnotta to unpack an ugly weekend for the Maple Leafs. The boys start with William Nylander flipping off the camera during Sunday’s broadcast and what it says about where this team is at right now. Have the Leafs run out of gas — and is the season still salvageable? McCarthy then weighs in on the questionable decision to throw Anthony Stolarz back into the crease without a single AHL tune-up after missing more than two months, as his rusty return came Friday against Vegas. Finally, they dive into Mitch Marner’s return to Toronto: the subdued atmosphere, the tribute, and a complete no-show on the ice. Adding fuel to the fire, Auston Matthews declined to speak post-game Friday, then called Marner’s return “fun” on Saturday — after a 6-3 loss.

Plus, concern on the blue line as Oliver Ekman-Larsson exits early in the first period with a lower-body injury — the boys react to the situation and discuss the potential ripple effects moving forward.

Also joining the show is TSN Leafs Reporter Mark Masters, who stops by to weigh in on the loss and tee up Mitch Marner’s highly anticipated return to Scotiabank Arena on Friday night.

  • Mark Masters Interview
    Jan 22 2026

TSN Leafs reporter Mark Masters joined Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill to dissect Toronto’s 2–1 overtime loss to Detroit and tee up Mitch Marner’s return to Scotiabank Arena on Friday night.

Masters discussed the tone around the team following the loss, along with Toronto’s growing injury concerns. Oliver Ekman-Larsson left the game early with a lower-body injury and is expected to miss time, while TSN’s Chris Johnston reported that Brandon Carlo may have tweaked something in the game, too.

The conversation also touched on the Leafs’ recent struggles and whether the team is simply regressing after its post-holiday surge. The boys then broke down the goaltending picture — Anthony Stolarz’s return timeline, Joseph Woll’s bounce-back performance, and whether carrying three goalies makes sense once Stolarz is back.

Finally, Masters shared his approach to covering Marner’s return, including handling the media frenzy, expectations for the atmosphere, and the importance of Friday night’s matchup.
